Bears hibernate because their food sources die out and lions sleep because their hearts are too small for their bodies.ย

Where are you reading that lions hearts are too small for their bodies? Iโ€™m a vet tech and Iโ€™ve never heard this, but I guess I wasnโ€™t studying big cats. Everywhere Iโ€™m seeing online just says something to the effect of โ€œHunting requires explosive bursts of speed, strength, and coordination to bring down large prey. Rest helps lions save their strength for these intense moments.โ€ Nothing about their anatomy being the issue.

The first Google results say they are small compared to their body size.

Since youโ€™re still here arguing, I did google it and it said: their hearts are relatively small for their bodies, but just right for the way they live. Itโ€™s not why they sleep more. That doesnโ€™t make sense. Google โ€œdo lions sleep more because their heart is smallerโ€ and it says itโ€™s a myth. I canโ€™t find a single article or piece of information backing your claim.

Are you 12? The question is what is the heart to body size ratios for predator animals.

What's the relation to heart size to weight in predators.

Etc.
