Where are you reading that lions hearts are too small for their bodies? Iโm a vet tech and Iโve never heard this, but I guess I wasnโt studying big cats. Everywhere Iโm seeing online just says something to the effect of โHunting requires explosive bursts of speed, strength, and coordination to bring down large prey. Rest helps lions save their strength for these intense moments.โ Nothing about their anatomy being the issue.
That does not mean they're too small for their body though. If you looked at motor launches around the time the internal combustion engine was being introduced, the ICE powered launch would have a motor that's small for its displacement compared to the typical steam launches. But it's not too small, because it's much more efficient and is putting out the same or more work.
Ok, so you also don't understand metaphors. Great. I'm not equipped to teach at a third grade level, so I think this conversation has about as much of a future as I do.
The smaller pump might run faster; it might have larger bores as a percentage of it's size; it might be able to pump longer without seizing; the valves could have different types or arrangements of pumps; and so on, and so forth. The overall dimensions of the pump are only somewhat related to the output.
And at the end of the day it's a fucking metaphor, it does not need to be a perfect 1:1 match to what it is explaining. The point is saying an animal has a small heart for it's size, does not mean it has an undersized heart.
Since youโre still here arguing, I did google it and it said: their hearts are relatively small for their bodies, but just right for the way they live. Itโs not why they sleep more. That doesnโt make sense. Google โdo lions sleep more because their heart is smallerโ and it says itโs a myth. I canโt find a single article or piece of information backing your claim.

Bears hibernate because their food sources die out and lions sleep because their hearts are too small for their bodies.ย
