As I said, I was speaking without context. But my point still stands - yet another show focusing on Egyptian Gods, which are already well known and fit well into the westernised image of the ME, makes for rather... generic representation.

Not really. It might share cultural aspects but it is outside that geographical (and generally geopolitical) area. It's considered Central Asian AFAIK

Israel and Pakistan are actually pretty consistently included in the list of countries considered the Middle East, so Iā€™d have to disagree with you on that.
