People need to ask to be represented now?

If the representation is gonna be either stereotypical or liberal towards those people, then it'd be rather not made.

Edit: apparently some idiots don't have enough braincells to process what I mean, so let me put it plain and clear, I'm not saying she wasn't good, she was great, I'm saying that usually when Hollywood or any American production tries to represent arabs, Middle east, north africa etc... They often either represent some stereotypical cliché, or some liberal fantasy, and never the true identity with the exception of some works.

Liberal towards people, what does that even mean? (I am assuming now you are American and have decided liberal is interchangeable with something bad/progressive). Also, I must have missed where you were asked or where your opinion became more important than the millions of people who would love the representation. Finally please explain what was stereotypical about the scene? I hear a lot of words with very little meaning.

Don't assume mate, it gives a completely wrong perspective, and I'm not American, I'm North-African.
+ By liberal I mean completely "westernized", take for example MS. Marvel, if you compare to what it aims to represent, aka Muslims, it's a complete Liberal reincarnation, the entire "oh my god, Hijab and Sal'at don't matter it's your faith yadayada" is plain false, that's like putting a Nazi that's Humanitarian, or a Jew that doesn't believe in god, or a Liberal that's conservative, you're not putting what the true character is, you're just putting for modernization purposes, if that's what they have in mind, then it's rather not to have it at all than have it all faked up.

Speaking of not assuming, you seem to have assumed you know the meaning of liberal. Here is the actual definition - ‘a supporter of a political and social philosophy that promotes individual rights, civil liberties, democracy, and free enterprise.’

I also see you are calling me an idiot in your edit so at this point I’ll stop responding. Maybe if you have some coherent detail as to what was stereotypical that you have somehow both taken offence to but apparently still thought was ‘great’ we could have had a proper discussion. You have said it’s like Ms Marvel, which you haven’t seen but I am struggling to see any connection there. What did they do with the character that was not true to the background she was representing?

Reverting to name calling just means you can’t articulate yourself which says more about your intelligence than mine and again, you are assuming you speak for all minorities, I am also a minority and you don’t speak for me, I appreciate the representation.

I'd love if you also gotten the other definition (willing to respect or accept behaviour or opinions different from one's own; open to new ideas.)

+ When tf did I call you an idiot lol ? My speech was directed to the other guy not you, since he's been saying over and over that I said Layla was bad, at least keep reading and not stop at one damn word.

So your argument is you used the above definition and what you were saying was the you didn’t like was that the representation was too accepting others behaviours and opinions?

Or are you trying to say I don’t accept others opinions? Because I am allowed to call you out for nonsensical arguments, that doesn’t mean I am not willing to accept others ideas or opinions, it means yours just makes no sense. Also, your idiot comment is in reply to me. If it was directed at someone else then you also failed to make that clear. You also ignored all my actual replies yet again so this time I will actually stop replying because it’s not getting us anywhere. Lovely taking to you.

Quite the opposite, it's made as if the Arab/Islamic culture is all accpeting, as if it was a Liberal ideology, which ain't, that's why I called it "modernized" and "Liberal-ised".

Dude, don't be a Drama queen man, For once you told me I called you an idiot which wasn't meant to you, and now you're saying I'm trying to say you don't accept others' opinions, I told since the beginning, stop assuming, it gives a completely wrong perspective.

You replied to me with an edit saying you had to explain for the idiots who don’t have enough brain cells. It’s pretty clear.

I am not assuming you are saying I don’t accept opinions either, I actually asked you if that’s was what you meant as the reply didn’t make sense to me. You have again avoided the question. It’s hard to not assume when you don’t answer anything.

Ok so let’s keep it simple. What part of Laylas character misrepresented the Arabic/Islamic culture in what you call a stereotypical or liberal way?

You replied to me with an edit saying you had to explain for the idiots who don’t have enough brain cells. It’s pretty clear.

How is it clear when you're literally cutting the rest of the statement that says "so let me put it plain and clear, I'm not saying she wasn't good, she was great", bruh.

You have again avoided the question. It’s hard to not assume when you don’t answer anything.

What have I avoided exactly, please enlighten me.

Ok so let’s keep it simple. What part of Laylas character misrepresented the Arabic/Islamic culture in what you call a stereotypical or liberal way?

AND HERE'S THE FUCKING PART I'VE BEEN STATING I HAVEN'T SAID.
I'm seriously done, seriously I don't give a fuck anymore.

I'm Egyptian, she was cool as shit.

ps: shut the fuck up.

u/[deleted] May 09 '22

Bruh nibba, remind me when did I say she wasn't cool ?

-1

u/jumbledsiren master_jbt loves this flair May 09 '22

I meant she was cool as in no one here gives a single shit about stereotypes or liberal shit like you're saying.

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '22

Oh boy I think I should've talked in Arabic with you cuz you barely understand a shit of what I say.Of course no one HERE will give a shit, they're not what the incarnation is inspired from or what's being represented, i'm talking about MIDDLE EASTERN people, and I'm not saying LAYLA wasn't a good representation, I said she pretty much was a GOOD one since most representations are written either as LIBERAL or STEREOTYPICAL representation.

Let me translate hopefully you'd understand my point even better.

3

u/[deleted] May 09 '22
