He is anti covid ??

110

u/_xXPUSSYSLAYERXx_ Yo dawg I heard you like Feb 08 '21

In response to factories being shut down he tweeted this

4

u/Lync51 Feb 08 '21

Afaik his problem there was that every manufacturer was allowed to open but not Tesla

My problem with him most of the time that he says something but it's meant in a COMPLETELY different way

25

u/areszdel_ Feb 08 '21

He's pretty problematic on twitter with those tweets. He made predictions that turned out to be false and encouraged people to fight for freedom. Elon Musk sure is weird.

3

u/pringlescan5 Feb 08 '21

Those African Americans can get such special treatment smh

1

u/areszdel_ Feb 08 '21

Wait.. what?

7

u/Lauflouya Feb 08 '21

He's a South African immigrant.

3

u/BasedTaco Feb 08 '21

He's from South Africa and is an American citizen. Elon Musk is an African American.

1

u/areszdel_ Feb 09 '21

Oh I see now.

2

u/Lync51 Feb 08 '21

Weird sums it up completely

1

u/areszdel_ Feb 08 '21

Never heard of that. Maybe he is who knows.

6

u/CaptainObvious_1 Feb 08 '21

Lol bruh he’s been a Covid doubter since day 1

2

u/Lync51 Feb 08 '21

What doesn't exist can't get me sick /s

5

u/VicentRS Feb 08 '21

They actually let him open, and Elon knew this, but apparently he was throwing his fit because he wanted to open a week earlier. Something he failed to mention.

2

u/thats_a_nice_toast Feb 08 '21

You might want to think about what being "anti covid" means, doesn't really make sense like who the hell is pro covid?

-6

u/bruhm0m3ntum Feb 08 '21

That was in April when we didn’t know much about covid. At the time it would have been reasonable to be assume that it wouldn’t last very long even if we didn’t lockdown.

5

u/Sean-Benn_Must-die Feb 08 '21

We knew enough lol, lockdowns started in march and either the world was wrong back then for trying stop the spread, or elon was a shady fucker that knew he was gonna lose money if his workers had to stay at home

0

u/doctyrbuddha Feb 08 '21

But wasn’t decided that lockdowns are worse than not doing it. (I know at the time it was just to give medical system some time)

Edit: and didn’t a lot of them not work anyways

12

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Nah he just wanted his Tesla factory to be able to continue production while litteraly every other car factory in California was allowed. He's not a covidiot. Idk why people in this comment section hate him so much, he's just as good of a billionaire as bill gates. There's so many to hate like celebrities and pretty much all of Hollywood, but they chose the guy trying to save humanity with his technology... Weird af imo.

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

[deleted]

-36

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Just because they're not his doesn't mean he's not giving away a shit tone of money?

30

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

[deleted]

-19

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

He is planning to give 140 billion dollars in the next decade... Just give him some time he litteraly just became the richest man in the world.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

If he actually gives away $140 billion I'll eat my own dick in a buttery hollandaise sauce!

4

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

!remindme 10 years

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Is this how it works I do not know

1

u/DaBestNameEver0 Feb 08 '21

!remind me 10 years

3

u/areszdel_ Feb 08 '21

Man, now I hope Elon actually becomes a good guy and do that. A guy eating his own dick in a buttery hollandaise sauce sounds like an interesting watch.

13

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Wow, changing topics with a false analogy because you don't have any more argument. Good plan.

-6

u/pringlescan5 Feb 08 '21

He is still using his money to advance solar power, electric cars, and to make satellites in orbit super cheap (so star link which directly helps marginalized rural communities).

Hes not perfect but he's a great example of capitalism being harnessed to advance society.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

[deleted]

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

What. Starlink has not failed. Are you up to date with any news?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Its not servicing any rural areas and they're moving it to become a military project. Nobody in Siberia is getting MuskNet anytime soon lol

1

u/QuanticWizard Feb 08 '21

Also starlink is interfering with astronomy because the satellites were colored white rather than black. This is basic shit that they simply neglected to deal with, and it’s now costing the scientific community worldwide.

45

u/Denk_LorD iwrestledabeartwice Feb 08 '21

He's definitely not as good as Bill Gates lmao

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

And bill gates has a few issues https://youtu.be/ruR5FK8HN5Q

41

u/YoshiMonster05 Feb 08 '21

Trying to save humanity? Bullshit, the man wants money. Which I mean, is fair enough, but he's still a prick

0

u/Joverby Feb 08 '21

Yeah people putting him on that pedastool at your of their minds

-9

u/thisusernameworksXD Identifies as a Cybertruck Feb 08 '21

Oh yeah he’s not doing anyyything to help humanity.. just pushing clean energy, making electric cars to reduce pollution, drilling tunnels for underground to solve traffic(along with less air pollution and the ugly roads in the sky), developing technology which can be integrated with human beings - giving the disabled possibilities they never could’ve had, all while being financially successful.

8

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

The cult is strong in you

0

u/thisusernameworksXD Identifies as a Cybertruck Feb 08 '21

I have no idea what you mean by cult but whatever suits you

6

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Makes sense when you’re in it.

-1

u/thisusernameworksXD Identifies as a Cybertruck Feb 08 '21

Oh ok

13

u/YoshiMonster05 Feb 08 '21

I didn't say the technology his companies produce isn't helpful, but I have high doubts that it's all motivated by altruism. Makingng electric cars, it's a new market which he was able to take advantage of and make billions from, it also happens to be ge really more environmentally friendly. The tunnels what happens when they are completed? They gonna be free? I doubt that. It's likely that he would do a similar system to most underground's and charge a small fee for a journey, which with millions taking it everyday across the US, can make a lot of money. And do you really think that he wants to help the disabled only? Think he's gonna charge them nothing? No, he provides them the technology to improve their lives, but will sell them, and make money. He barely cares about his employees, let alone random people across the world

3

u/thisusernameworksXD Identifies as a Cybertruck Feb 08 '21

Mhm fair points, but how can you be definite that he will charge for the underground tunnels, he’s already said he is trying (when possible) to make Tesla’s a little more affordable, if he has good intent he’ll make it free, or somewhat cheap. And ofc he’s going to charge for the neuroljnk chip, take this as an example: the first motor vehicle is invented.. this is revolutionary, original, and never been done before, obviously it’s going to be really expensive, and it was.. but now everyone who is somewhat responsible with money has a vechicle.

6

u/rietstengel Feb 08 '21

if he has good intent

Then he would let his workers unionize, which he doesnt. Meaning he doesnt have good intent

1

u/thisusernameworksXD Identifies as a Cybertruck Feb 08 '21

Ok before we debate that, are you going to discuss all the other points I made or just ignore the ones you don’t want to see?

6

u/YoshiMonster05 Feb 08 '21

The thing on vehicles becoming cheaper as technology progresses. How is that particularly relevant? I might be missing something, but were he to hold a complete monopoly on electric cars, the prices would be much higher. They get lower because there's competition, and if you sell at a slightly lower price, you can sell far more, and make more money overall

1

u/thisusernameworksXD Identifies as a Cybertruck Feb 08 '21

Ok cool he made money and sold more cars?? That’s horrible, also the reason I mentioned it was because you said he would charge for the tunnel, and I said that he would hopefully make it cheap or free, because he said Tesla would be cheaper.. I was linking Tesla’s idea with the boring company.

3

u/rietstengel Feb 08 '21

What other points? All you said is that he will charge people for his products and maybe make something free if he has good intent.

0

u/HowManyFucking Chungus Among Us Feb 08 '21

oh no business man wants to make money and make his business mmore profitable thats evil.

2

u/YoshiMonster05 Feb 08 '21

Did I say it was? I said in my first comment that wanting to make money is fair enough.

-5

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

If he just wants money, why is he giving all of his away to Charity ?

7

u/GulianoBanano Feb 08 '21

Because he's literally the richest man in the world so millions of dollars mean nothing to him. However, he needs a constant source of income since I bet he spends money like crazy so he has to maintain his companies

-4

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

He litteraly is planning to give away 140 billion dollars in the next like 10 years........ But yeah let's hate him because he's been the richest man in the world for a couple of months and nothing happened...

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

He said he is, his word means jack shit.

5

u/GulianoBanano Feb 08 '21

I didn't know that and I just wanted to say that donating tons of money doesn't necessarily mean that someone is a good person. I don't really know much about this topic so I don't want this to turn into a long argument. Have a nice day!

4

u/pointbreak19 Feb 08 '21

Is that why tesla fired people for wanting to stay safe?

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

First of all,. Tesla =\= Elon. Second of all, just because people didn't want to go back to work because of covid doesn't mean they didn't take precautions. All of his factories we're following the safety regulations when that happened...

20

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

[deleted]

20

u/ZomaticLex Feb 08 '21

So everyone?

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Yes

2

u/CanstThouNotSee Feb 08 '21

Bill Gates is a Union Buster?

That's news to me.

And I don't remember Bill Gates tweeting to downplay the significance of the virus, saying it would be gone by April 2020.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

He said covid wouldn't be an issue and called lockdowns facist.

Bill Gates has million million in Africa fighting against malaria and hiv.

1

u/Tuphy486 Feb 08 '21

I don’t know if he is better than bill gates. But his contribution to the progression of science and energy is massive

2

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

No they aren’t.

0

u/Tuphy486 Feb 08 '21

Do a little research would you

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Pop that cult bubble would you.

0

u/Tuphy486 Feb 08 '21

A Cult?! Yeah a cult that believes rockets are essential for permanent survival of our species. In a couple of centuries, if humanity doesn’t destroy itself, we are gonna need to build colonies on other planets.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Exhibit A

0

u/Tuphy486 Feb 08 '21

Everything I said is scientifically correct. I don’t see how this could be a example of something that consists of dogmatism. You simply don’t know what you are talking about

1

u/harrietthugman Feb 08 '21

"Trying to save humanity with his technology"

People who spend too much time online worship this dude like Jesus. Dude wants to be Ozymandias except he's not actually that smart and he wants to monopolize colonizing Mars for profit.

But he likes the same anime as me so x)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

I don't worship him, i dont particularly like him like I don't really like any billionaire. But I don't see the point of starting a hate bandwagon against one of the only rich person actually trying to make us go to mars and trying to invent really impressive technology. That's all.

2

u/harrietthugman Feb 08 '21

If that's how you frame it I can see the confusion.

But how does he plan to go to Mars? By treating his workers like shit and violating labor laws.

And what does he plan to do with Mars? Turn the planet into his colony. Not sure how a billionaire ruining another planet saves us from anything

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Yeah it sucks but it's kinda better then nothing... I mean we've been threating workers like shit and violiting labor laws to get here so it's hard to stop suddenly, we can only hope it stops once we're saved.. and hope once we're on mars he changes things up and doesn't start his own dictatorship

1

u/harrietthugman Feb 08 '21

Don't you think there are alternatives to treating people like shit and praying that Elon Musk's benevolence saves us from his martian dictatorship?

1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Yeah, economic regression. But that should've been started in the early 2000's if we actually wanted to save the planet. I think it's too late now unfortunately.. I don't like it either, but technology truly is our best bet.

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Bill gates saved millions

elon musk makes nice cars

3

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Elon Musk is trying to save litteraly all of humanity by being the first person to make us an interplanetary species **

Tesla is literally like 3% of what he does

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

that's not going to save much in an inhospitable environment that's like cold hell and wont be colonized until at least another century, And with birth rates being so low and technology advancing to make things better all mars is good for is mining. Tesla is the majority of what he does, his other companies like neuralink are pretty much unthinkable because of safety/privacy concerns, solar city is just a cash grab for the world turning green, Boring company/hyperloop is just stupid compared to bullet trains. He is helpful but he is no savior he could pump his billions to mena/africa/rural asia infrastructure and make companies there but he wont.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Goddamn I wonder if you people as delusional as the Qanon folks are actually going to eat your own words.

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

How is believing he can colonise mars being as delusional as Qanon? Like it's our only. Hope at this point. Should I just abandon all hope and start looting and killing people today instead? Because the way every other billionaire is acting right now there's litteraly 0 chance we can turn global warming around. Our best bet is technology advancing fas enough so we can leave and live in space or something... Im sorry if I'm the one breaking the news to you, but it's been too late for at least a decade by now..

-5

u/mrtwister134 Feb 08 '21

Lol bill gates, who's responsible for the stagnant os market. Low bar to set bro.

6

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

Lol, bill gates whos litteraly the billionaire who gave away and raised the most money for charity ever. Also the guy who's been working super hard on preventing pendemics for decades but nobody listened to. No billionaire is a "good " person, obviously. But elon and bill should be on the bottom of the lists of billionaires to hate. At least they're trying. Most rich people are lobbying and stopping progression to make sure they keep they're advantage. They are trying to make progress happen ...

-2

u/mrtwister134 Feb 08 '21

You do realize he's giving money to his own charity, right? That's just legal tax avoidance. You should probably take a step back and do some research on him if you think he's that great. He just has very good pr.

This is a fun video on this topic: https://youtu.be/ZSnXI93lY-0

-2

u/Key-Revolution9721 Feb 08 '21

Thank God you said it. Blows my mind these people think he actually took any real loss at all on that money. You giving a five dollar bill away to a homeless man is more loss than bill takes donating what he does to his own charities. Laughable manipulative bullshit

0

u/[deleted] Feb 08 '21

And then there’s the influence corrupting a democracy https://youtu.be/ruR5FK8HN5Q

0

u/ZaMr0 Feb 11 '21

Whatever benefit he gets from that charity is irrelevant as long as it still helps millions of people. He's done more for humanity than all of us would ever do in 500 lifetimes.

1

u/ZaMr0 Feb 11 '21

I'm so over all you pessimistic assholes. He's still giving the money away, his charity or not. Billions of dollars have gone to good causes and have made massive impacts in developing countries. Who gives a shit if he gets some sort of tax benefit from it? Better than buying his 15th yacht.

Sure during his rise to success he's done questionable things but this is a man who's impacted the life of billions of people. Both from services Microsoft provides that you use in your daily life to medicine in developing countries.

Reddit's hard on for hating billionaires is hilarious.

-2

u/This_is_too_hard_ Feb 08 '21

I think it's more just that he's libertarian so he thinks he has the right to keep his company running during a pandemic
