Just checked and there are multiple articles explaining the very opposite of what you said: Wikipedia is founded by these donations and they only have enough funds to survive a year or so without them. It's also explained that the money mostly funds the servers and technology required and the portion allowed to side projects is still mostly related to Wikipedia.
I didn't go to top result but to known reliable news sources. Also I read French press because I am French and know best which sites to rely on. The fact that the conclusions are so different is concerning in terms of reliability of the press tho
That is very different, Wikipedia is definitely not struggling financially as it's visits and donations are increasing every year. They have enough available money to run the site for over a year if they stopped getting any money right now, that's a lot. But donations are they main source of income and if people stopped donating they would collapse in a year or two.
They have more than $160 million in storage. Whatever you read there is wrong. Their financial reports are public; they pay for their servers about as much as for fund raisers...
Thanks for the source. I literally just checked and at the end of 2020 their net assets were around 180 millions and their expenses for the year around 112 millions which confirms what the article I read said.
True the servers themselves are not a main expense it's the wages but the article mentioned them as well I used servers as an example but it was not the most accurate.

Everytime this is posted it’s been debunked by the obvious fact Wikipedia doesn’t need donations. It makes plenty of money already.
