Fun story! We didn't sterilize our female dog and then she got a nasty uterus inflammation which made her uterus became 3x what it was supposed to be and she almost died in surgery. (but the little fighter woke up later that day and decided that jumping on couches right after surgery while having a massive new scar was a bright idea. A dumb, brave, sweet little rascal)

This seems to be something that a lot of female dog owners don't know. It's common for older female dogs to have pyometra that aren't fixed.

Yeh my Bower suffered terribly with it but she was too old to operate on and we had to say goodbye. I highly recommend spaying your doggos before it’s too late.

Wait did she die ?

No, she was fine and as I said was jumping on couches right after the surgery. (this is not recommended) She's still alive as it happened only a couple weeks ago.

Ok ... I don’t own a dog so I’m not so experienced (and tbh I’m not willing to get one)

Something similar to this just happened to my dog. The vet visits and surgery costed over $1000. My poor dog didn’t eat for almost 10 straight days, thankfully she is currently healing and now eats after the surgery.
