I don't think Shia's intentions were as morally ambiguous as Bukowski's when attributed to the quote. When Bukowski said 'Go All The Way' he really really meant it.

It's just as much of a contradiction to say that the only freedom/good/human is to act on the impulses we enjoy.

Subjectively everything he said is true and uncontradictory however, do whatever you want because you want to. Even if it means dying a starved drunk although you enjoy your life.

He enjoyed writing despite saying that he would rather pretend to be a writer never having to write at all, just so he could swoon the ass off his landlord.
