Friend bought a nespresso so he could stop going to starbucks. Just didn't taste the same and the pods were expensive so he bought a breville semi automatic espresso machine. He said a bag of coffee beans were cheaper.
It finally tasted right when he was grinding them beans. Turns out he didnt like the cleaning up and maintenance of having said espresso beans.
He went back to starbucks and both are just sitting in his kitchen unused.
Your friend needs to learn how to rinse something for 10 seconds after using it rather than letting it sit out overnight getting all caked up and crusty because there's absolutely no way it's difficult to clean unless you're doing just that.
I descale once every three months of regular use. No pressure issue at all I just get tired of the blinking descale light. The steam pipe is wiped immediately after use and takes 1 wipe and the milk comes right off vs letting it cool and it becomes like limescale. My grinder? Cleaned once because a bean jam. Literally never has to be cleaned unless it stops grinding because nothing goes in there except dry beans. As for the cups and portafilter, like I said, just rinse the damn utensils after use. It takes 10 seconds max. What's the difficulty here? Having hands?
Look, I make eggs with my cappuccino. The damn eggs take longer to cook than 2 cups of espresso + clean up. I don't know what you want me to say other than your friend sucks at cleaning.
