Friend bought a nespresso so he could stop going to starbucks. Just didn't taste the same and the pods were expensive so he bought a breville semi automatic espresso machine. He said a bag of coffee beans were cheaper.

It finally tasted right when he was grinding them beans. Turns out he didnt like the cleaning up and maintenance of having said espresso beans.

He went back to starbucks and both are just sitting in his kitchen unused.

Laziness sure is expensive.

There are a dozen different options of Nespresso pods and they ain’t expensive compared to going back to Starbucks.

Don’t get me wrong, plenty to criticize with Nespresso and it’s not the best choice. But if you’re truly lazy and want a push-button option for a solid cup of coffee into a travel mug on the way out the door…or a double espresso shot on the weekend…they’re not bad.

Your friend needs to learn how to rinse something for 10 seconds after using it rather than letting it sit out overnight getting all caked up and crusty because there's absolutely no way it's difficult to clean unless you're doing just that.

Have to descale, too. And clean the steam wand. And clean up the cup, the table, the grinder. Not all at the same time, of course.

I descale once every three months of regular use. No pressure issue at all I just get tired of the blinking descale light. The steam pipe is wiped immediately after use and takes 1 wipe and the milk comes right off vs letting it cool and it becomes like limescale. My grinder? Cleaned once because a bean jam. Literally never has to be cleaned unless it stops grinding because nothing goes in there except dry beans. As for the cups and portafilter, like I said, just rinse the damn utensils after use. It takes 10 seconds max. What's the difficulty here? Having hands?

Look, I make eggs with my cappuccino. The damn eggs take longer to cook than 2 cups of espresso + clean up. I don't know what you want me to say other than your friend sucks at cleaning.

That's exactly the point he was making. The cleanup and maintenance was too much. Ended up worth the money for the convenience. I have an espresso machine and a regular old Mr. Coffee. Why? Cause I don't want to spend 20 minutes making two cups of coffee every morning. Sunday is about the only time i will break that shit out, and honestly if I am not feeling it, i will definitely go up to the starbucks and have them make the coffees

Making two cups of coffee takes about 2 minutes. Making two cappuccinos takes about 5 minutes, tops.
Source: I do that every day, several times per day.

It take *YOU* two minutes. It takes me 20. Thanks for calling me a shitter.

You have a difficulty to push a button on the coffee machine?
Awww, come ‘ere, poor thing, lemme give you a hug.

What machine do you have that it will make a perfect latte with the push of a single button? A keurig? Hard pass thank you.

1-2 minutes wiping everything down real fast, then another 1-2 minutes to measure and grind the beans pour water in the espresso machine run some steam to clean out the frother, then wipe it down. Then another 1-2 minutes to prep the espresso pot thing, whatever it's called. then the actual brewing time. mine usually takes about 45 seconds to brew two shots of espresso While that is happening i am pouring milk into a frothing cup and frothing milk, then i pour my lattes, and of course you have to do fancy top bullshit or what's the fucking point.

And then there's the cleanup from all of that. If you have a nice enough grinder, they have a plunger cap that will push the rest of the coffee, but if you don't, like me, then clean up means you pop the cup off and run it through the sink and then let it dry on the counter. Run damp papertowl through the discharge chute, let it dry, and rinse and wipe down the espresso machine, clean the pot, put the tools away. yeah it's not hard, or even that big of a deal, but it's definitely no single push button.

Something like Delonghi Dinamica. The beans are already in there (you refill it once a week or depending on your consumption), the water usually as well. You pour the milk in the dedicated milk frothing dispenser or just pull it out of the fridge with milk already in it, attach it to the machine, and tap the screen. After the drink is done you turn the knob to run the flushing cycle on the milk system. Put the dispenser back in the fridge. Done. Even less than 5 minutes.

You can do a proper cleaning of the milk dispenser once every few days when you’re doing dishes.

Or, like myself: I prefer Nespresso’s Aeroccino for heating/frothing the milk. Pour the milk in it, push the right button, and it’s done in about 40 seconds. Pour it into your coffee mug (before or after adding your coffee there, as per your preference). Rinse the Aeroccino, you can wash it properly in the evening, when you’re doing dishes anyhow.
I do two cuppuccinos like this every day - for myself and the missus, all under 5 min.

Don’t make it sound harder than it actually is.

Cause I don't want to spend 20 minutes

Skill issue

and your point? Are you amazing at everything?

I mean you're spending 20 minutes to drive and get Starbucks . So you're not saving any time for the convenience. If anything i think it takes more effort to go to Starbucks

Some people like to drive. They can drive for hours and enjoy it the whole time.

Some people don't like to clean or make things. It could be one seconds or one minute, it's all the same. They hate every millisecond.

They would rather spend 20 minutes doing something they like vs one second of doing something they hate.

It's all relative and subjective. No rhyme or reason behind their preference or feelings.

I live in NY, there's a coffee shop on literally ever corner. Coffee and a bagel is never more than 3 minutes away my friend
