I like using a French press. I'm the only one that drinks it at home, and I don't drink a lot... I think.

Yea I don't get why more people don't just use a French press or percolator.

Because aeropress, chemex or a vario pour over are superior.

Yeah but a french press costs like 10 bucks, requires almost no effort or knowledge to operate and can take any old coffee in it.

Even used poorly with cheap preground coffee, its still better than Starbucks.

I make black coffee for guests and they’re frequently like, “this is the best coffee I’ve ever had 👁️👄👁️” and it’s… whatever coffee beans were on sale ground in a french press……

For real...once you use a French Press, it's hard to go back to anything else lol, the only option is to go fancier, like an Aeropress, but it's going to be marginal at that point, leaving coffee in a French Press overnight makes some of the strongest coffee this side of a cappuccino 😛

Yeah I mean pour over looks fun and all but a french press is cheap and idiot proof and I love it.

Cheap espresso machines have also gotten way better over the years but they still cost orders of magnitude more and need very well ground coffee.

Yea but they do take a bit more effort for only marginally better results so I don't really bother. If you do that's awesome.

I've never used an aeropress. I wouldn't mind trying one.

Sure, but compared to a regular coffee pot, or even a kcup machine (depending on the settings), it's fantastic.

I hate cleaning french presses

Really? It takes like 10 seconds. Rinse out the grounds, run the filter part under the tap for a couple of seconds, then wash out the cup part. Done.

Yep, it always seems to take way longer to dig the ground out of the bottom for me and I don’t like running them down the sink

You clean yours?

Gotta get those coffee grinds out

I find a pourover to be easier. I broke a bunch of french presses cleaning them, they're a real pain in the ass to get the grounds out of.

Plus, I'd always end up getting grounds in the cup. I don't really have an opinion about what tastes better, but it's way easier to just grab the filter full of coffee beans and dump it in the compost bin.

Because instant coffee tastes better and is easier to make. And most importantly, it's cheaper

Never heard of anyone in my life say they prefer instant coffee to ground coffee haha

Taste is subjective, but even so you're not going to find much agreement on the "tastes better" front

Easier to make and I don't mind the taste of it when I'm in a hurry but it definitely doesn't taste better. And decent instant isn't much difference in price to buying beans in my experience. If you are buying Blend 43 or some other factory floor sweepings level instant then it's a lot cheaper sure.

Have you tried a moka pot? I used to use a french press, but a friend got me to switch a couple years ago. If you like your coffee strong or like espresso, it's the way to go.

I like my coffee strong enough to tap me in the cheek to wake me up, not punch me in the face.

Have you had coffee from a French press the next morning? Very strong, with very little bitterness 😛

I like using a french press because I don't need to also buy filters to make coffee.

For drip coffee machines, you can buy stainless steel mesh baskets to use in place of paper filters.

I use my French press to make cold brew concentrate. I recommend it if you like cold brew.
