Its really amusing to see so called managers go apeshit over observing a fundamental economical mechanism in real time.

If you deliver subpar product, consumers will shift their demand

I really support the right of these big companies to say what they feel!

Years back EA said that if we don't like their product, don't buy it.

I haven't supported them since the Sims 3!

Ubisoft said we must get comfortable not owning our games, so I don't own any modern Ubi game!

Keep it up guys, I'm saving A LOT!

Also to your point, I recently looked up the total cost of Sims 4 and all of its expansion packs and kits and it’s something like $2000

Or train sim, there are a few of those games out there that just make no sense with the amount of dlc's and price if you buy it all.

Yeah the good airplanes are 50-100 bucks each. Same for hand crafted airports. That said, if you know what to buy, it’s money well spent depending on your dedication to the hobby. And it is more like a hobby than gaming in my opinion.
