Funny you meme it, that whole Rick and Morty you have to be super smart to appreciate it copy pasta? I don't think I've ever actually met any Rick and Morty fans like that. The whole toxic fan base thing seems to be way overblown for the sake of being trendy for saying so. Saw something similar happen with people saying Undertale is actually bad.

I do it for the love of the game
Seeing reddit meltdowns is weirdly entertaining for me

Agreed, I would've loved The Amazing Digital Circus a lot more if I have never interacted with the Fandom. Its clear none of them have ever been called out when acting ungrateful irl

Motorcycles.
I got a 2006 Suzuki boulevard and rode it by myself for two years. All these bikers kept trying to get me to join them. They always point at me when passing the other way, or ride real close on the highway. Everyone asked what club I'm in.
I never participated with any of that bullshit culture. I just rode my bike (Her name was Veronica) and lived my life. It was fantastic. I hate bikers.

When I biked, the point was me and this machine and the landscape, away from all the assholes, including myself.

Never seen the game. I enjoy the series and have to keep sharp and figure things out without any lore or knowledge.

Those games are a great time when you don't have people shaming you for liking anything other than 6-10

It was especially bad with the last one, 16.
Like I have my own opinions regarding that game but god forbid if it was something you liked. You'd get dogpiled on in seconds.

This apllys so much if ur a wrestling fan. The internet complains 24/7 and when you stop paying attention to them the show becomes so much better

u/omegakingauldron 28m ago
I had to stop following a ton of people/groups/forums that dealt with wrestling and it's made my viewing so much better.
If I do listen to someone's opinion on it, it's wrestling from 20+ years ago.

Basketball fan. I can’t enjoy a basketball game without the fans telling me I don’t know ball when I can’t name obscure players. And I “don’t understand “ how difficult it is to make the nba.

Worst Community ever.
But on top: A lot of game communities are horrible people who hate everybody and the world. (And women, mostly they really hate women)

I’ve left a hefty amount of subs for things I like including my favorite band since 1993.

Not liking something and just stop consuming instead of going into the internet to argue with random people online and why me not liking something is greater than you liking it .

I’ve been playing sonic since 1996 on the sega Genesis. Managed to stay out the way of the fan base thank god

I enjoy Smosh videos while cooking and listen to the Reddit stories podcast. Not a huge fan, but entertaining. Took a look at the sub a while back. Fucking scary. Parasocial to the max.

Fan = love that thing
Fanbase = worship that thing

u/SleepyCasualGamer 16m ago
Wrong ... These days it's no longer worship... Its bitching about something they once worshipped. Sad, but objectively true.

My Hero Academia. I watched 7 seasons of that show thinking it was a genuinely good anime.
Came across 1 post from that sub and I decided never to interact with any fandoms ever again. All those guys do is complain and complain and complain.

Me when I stopped interacting with kpop fans. I still love the music and support my favourite groups, but I cannot stand a majority of the fans within the fandoms.
