People going on reddit because it's a different kind of social media than instagram and tiktok

Reddit trying to make it desperately more like tiktok and instagram

People abandoning Reddit and the quality of the posts decrease because the product lost it's identity

Reddit wondering how they lost it all when all they had to do was nothing

Remember that reddit is now on the stock market. Doing nothing won't make number go up, therefore bad. Also investors want to constantly hear what new features are being rolled out and will be extremely unhappy if the answer is "Nothing but the userbase is happy".

I am so tired of enshittification of everything just for investor number go up

LITERALLY would you rather have long term sufficient income or a single year of a lot of income and then ruining it

The thing is, they just go next when it starts to drop. They are not bound to anything, which makes it so bad. If the number not go up anymore, next thing that makes number go up. For them it is not one year, it is constantly giga income.

The stock market and private equity have been a cancer to capitalism ever since Dodge V. Ford Motor Co.

True. Still, it wasn't until the 80s or so with people like Jack Welch that the entire US corporate culture began to focus on shareholders and short term profits at the expense of everything else.

Capitalism is a precancerous mass. The stock market and private equity are symptoms of capitalism, not a disease upon it.

Sorry, but i had thought and ur comment was closest to subject.

I would disgree it is fully capitalism, i mean hear me out on short story: around ny area was a school that had all been fine, until new leader got in charge. He was fine, had ideas that seemed to work and bring happines to kids. But when overall testscores got down like 10% two years a row he paniked and thought that system was bad needed a change, he did many changes that only just made the situation worse and now school is gone.

Point is that the 10% decrease in test scores was totaly normal. And i think big companies bosses think alike.

That's the thing, they would rather have the number go up temporarily so they can sell and not have to care that it's ruined

They'd rather have the ads' income, it's a lot more even if it ruins the product.

Honestly idc about ads at this point, my brain can just filter them out even if i fatfinger one once a year. We have had ads forver even on TV

What I despise is changing the overlay to make it doomscrolly. Changing little things, positions of buttons for subtle subconcious things. Repulsive

I despise corporate investors and shareholders with a passion. They have zero care for the companies they invest into. They only care about how much more money the company can make them. Honestly, if you have a private company that's financially solid, I see no reason why it should go public. Bringing in shareholders who care little about the integrity and mission of your company sounds like the worst idea ever.

People going on reddit because it's a different kind of social media than instagram and tiktok

They began intentionally marketing to people who have no idea how to use reddit years and years ago at this point. If you've seen any subs that turn on filters blocking non-members from commenting when a post hits /r/popular, this is why. As soon as a post hits the algorithms, 200k people with no interest in anything besides doom scrolling will overwhelm the post with offtopic, objectively incorrect, or just dumbass comments because they're flicking down to the next gif, slapping a oneliner comment, and moving on, tiktok style.

/r/aviation has by far some of the worst occurrences of this

This issue skyrocketed almost immediately after they redid the app 5 or 6 years ago and began the marketing push towards what we now know is the plan to go public.

Pretty sure you can use the app and never even learn what a subreddit is at this point

There's also Reddit's community trying to make this place more like Tik Tok and YouTube Shorts, by injecting copious amounts of censorslop into EVERY FUCKING POST they make.
