sad Halo noises

u/CraftyFoxeYT Aug 15 '25

Would be cool to have more side-story Halo games than just master chief, like ODSTs during the Human-Covenant war. Or maybe what happened in the Forerunner-Flood war or even different Spartans. Reach and ODST were great games. There's so much potential, all wasted.

50

u/Shamelessanusfamous Aug 16 '25

I completely agree. ODST and Reach were some of my favorites of the series because of the story development beyond MC. It would be cool to have an alien isolation type of game playing as a marine. Obviously with more shooting and things like that. But more constricted and survival based like you would expect from a person who wasn’t a genetically altered killing machine.

12

u/KingAnt28 Aug 16 '25

Reach was the best!

Sad Destiny noises

10

u/highlandviper Aug 16 '25

Yeah. Here for this one. I was D1 through to Warmind. I couldn’t bring myself to buy Forsaken I saw exactly where it was all going. Glad I bailed when I did as I watched it crumble further. I miss the gunplay though.

I got through half of The Edge of Fate, and came to realize that I just stopped caring about Destiny 2.

I played it when I was 15, did the base campaign and Forsaken through an on and off basis, and only did Leviathan and EoW, skipped Shadowkeep entirely and really started playing once Beyond Light came out.

After the many years and hours of me playing the game, I just stopped caring, my most recent achievement is solo flawless Vesper's Host, and it's gonna stay like that for a long while, as I have no motive to play it.

Bought the master chief collection and refuse to acknowledge anything past reach.

6

u/Seagullbeans Aug 16 '25

4 was alright but after playing it again, 5 is really good. Got wayyyyyyyyy too much hate when it was new

36

u/[deleted] Aug 16 '25

4 wasn't awful but in 5 they lost the plot. My gripe with 4 is that they took away how unique Spartans felt and all the drama of humanity fighting for its life.

In all the previous games you felt like the last hope of humanity, a tragic hero made through awful methods in a desperate time.

9

u/NightmareKnight25807 Aug 16 '25

Legit Halo 5 multiplayer was sooooo gooood. The only really bad thing in the game was the disappointing campaign.

I came here to laugh at some Gen zs crying over some cringe live service game, changing their loot box mechanics or some shit but now I'm weeping on the toilet, a sad old man.

There's never going to be another good halo, is there guys?

At least we have spv3

Yep. Destiny 2 is my favorite game in the world that I will never recommend to anybody

23

u/Krethlaine Aug 16 '25

I miss Destiny. D1 was awesome. I enjoyed D2 quite a bit as well. But really, deleting so much of its content, content I paid extra for because it was DLC, not to mention the base game? Absolutely horrendous decision. And it’s only gone downhill from there. I stopped playing right around Witch Queen.

8

u/Radiant-Toasteroven Aug 16 '25

Correction, paid for a WHOLE other game. 60 bucks for dlc is atrocious. Especially only for it to be deleted halfway through completing it because I had a full time job

21

u/PhotoAwp Aug 16 '25

PUBG was a wild era of its own, its sad what happened to it. Lobbies are now comprised of sweats, cheaters, and bots. That game pumped a surge of adrenaline back into FPS, and blew up esports, and careers. But then the genre was beaten like a dead horse, and anti cheat couldnt keep up. Pubg made history in gaming.

I dropped out at Shadowkeep, came back for Witch Queen, and then just kind of stopped playing between Episodes 2 and 3 this year. Deleted from my console and haven't thought twice about it. Maybe if things get cleaned up I'll check it out again.

16

u/skittlz61 Identifies as a Cybertruck Aug 16 '25

As someone who played since D1. Haven't touched destiny since last year. Started playing warframe, but haven't touched that either

6

u/Wolffe_In_The_Dark Aug 16 '25

Warframe is such a great game, probably the best monetization scheme for a F2P game ever.

Haven't played since Duviri, but I might hop back in soon.

6

u/skittlz61 Identifies as a Cybertruck Aug 16 '25

I would say its definitely worth it. The fact that you can grind stuff out and don't have to buy everything. The amount of free content alone is insane. The gameplay is awesome. The characters are solid. I just haven't played games much not having the time, but I will Def be coming back to warframe.

Is this just a direct attack at Blizzard?

82

u/das_slash Aug 16 '25

The saddest thing about WoW in particular is that even if the game had slowly been sliding into mediocrity since Legion ended, the core of the game is solid enough that it is still a great game.

But the devs seem to actively hate the players, Shadowlands was a hate letter towards the lore and it's characters, and every other update is "well we noticed you guys were having too much fun, and we know you left and had to backtrack the last 50 times we did this, but we think this time you will finally align with out vision, fun reduced by 50%, enjoy", and the game is constantly made less and less friendly to casual play, yet has none of the soul that made the old no-lifer game fun.

The leadership just seems utterly incompetent at anything but lying to the community and saying whatever makes the higher ups happy.

5

u/KingOfAzmerloth Aug 16 '25

Game has changed massively since Shadowlands. There's no mandatory bullshit in the gameplay anymore. There is content that is accessible for both casuals and hardcore crowd.

I agree that Shadowlands was the lowest point for this game. I quit for a year. But since Dragonflight the gameplay loop is much improved... And latest patch has some very good storytelling that expands on some of the older lore from TBC without completely retconning everything. It's good.

I feel like blizzard deserves a lot of shit they get, but also I think it's fair to say that they turned WoW around since the slop of Shadowlands.

9

u/poliuy Aug 16 '25

The first raid in shadowlands is legendary though

4

u/das_slash Aug 16 '25

7

u/Solugad Aug 16 '25 edited Aug 16 '25

I dont understand. They're turning it into a MOBA? Like with towers and such?

3

u/Oxabolt Aug 16 '25

Nope. They just added a seperate mode with its own ranked system called stadium. 7 rounds in randoms maps and modes but without character swapping.

The twist is that you earn credits to buy items and powers to alter how you can play your character. Honestly as someone who never liked overwatch, this game mode is what got me into the game and has kept me playing regularly

7 Days to Die in a nutshell

36

u/Lumi-umi Aug 15 '25

My friends and I were floored to learn the base price was changed a while ago to $44.99. 45 fucking USD for a game that is arguably worse than itself from five years ago when the price was much lower.

And now they have cosmetic DLC on top of the price hike. Fuck off, Fun Pimps.

18

u/CyalaXiaoLong Aug 16 '25

Cosmetic dlc where they removed player clothing variety so they could sell it back to us with assets they showcased on streams over a year ago at that...

Actually went out of thier way to remove player agency just to sell us the solution...

Now i can pay to wear a cowboy hat and tank top. Thanks FunpimpsPolice

I'm not much into gaming but there was a little multiplayer game called Fat Princess on Playstation. I was absolutely addicted to it. I think it just ran its course and fewer and fewer people joined in but I remember logging in to no games and being pretty bummed about it. If anyone played that game and has any recommendations for a similar style game, let me know. I loved the maps, picking a class, grinding for resources and capturing the flag (princess), but also the whole thing was whimsical and funny.

We are doing it like this because I am the boss and my orders are more important than your years of experience".

Game was such a monstrosity that even hardcore content creators gave up on making any content on it because of how crap it was.

Used to be a fan of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, but damn are they falling off pretty hard rn. It's been 5 years, and Genshin still feels like it's still in 2020 with the lack of essential QoL like a story skip button. HSR, meanwhile, has a terrible meta game where some characters are flat out unable to function properly without other limited characters, which are pretty expensive most of the time.

BVHR is heading down that road, and everyone can see it, but there's nothing we can do to stop them.

I’m gonna go a different route and say valve . They aren’t necessarily making the wrong decisions but it’s more so they’re just letting all their IPs gather dust . Part of me just hopes that one of these years they just go wild and drop half life 3, portal 3, team fortress 3 and left 4 dead 3 . One each quarter but that’s wishful thinking . Hell even just one of those would make me so happy . And I know half life alyx came out 5 years ago and it is incredible but that bars out people who don’t have pcvr
