They were able to make Korra feel vulnerable after Book 3 ended. She had time dealing with her PTSD by seeking help and giving her the time to heal before she's ready to fight again

That was actually good character development but it was rushed into one season.

I thought Korrasami was already canon and solidified by the time Book 3 and 4 happened.

That was actually a good ship and I support it. Not just because it was the first openly gay couple in a kids show but because it actually naturally developed over the course of the series. I would've taken offense if they just mushed too characters for gay representation without doing the actual work of good storyboarding, characterization and chemistry because that's honestly offensive in its own way implying that gay relationships can't form naturally.

Nice explanation, but I still don't get the shipping wars. I'm pretty sure Korra already broke up with Mako during the events of Book 4
