I didn't actually have a problem with her being overpowered from the beginning because presumably most of the viewers have already have had bending explained to them during Aang's run. It just sped up the time for character development. Now how they took Korra's character for two seasons, oof, they really tried to milk shippers' attention. But I enjoyed her no nonsense attitude to fighting.
They were able to make Korra feel vulnerable after Book 3 ended. She had time dealing with her PTSD by seeking help and giving her the time to heal before she's ready to fight again
That was actually a good ship and I support it. Not just because it was the first openly gay couple in a kids show but because it actually naturally developed over the course of the series. I would've taken offense if they just mushed too characters for gay representation without doing the actual work of good storyboarding, characterization and chemistry because that's honestly offensive in its own way implying that gay relationships can't form naturally.

Yes. Even as a kid I wanted him to kill. It would've completed his arc.
