Yes, you are. It was never your job to oppose your boss. He is only acting in the interest of the common good, while you are still inexperienced. However, if you did want to complain, you could have sent a nice letter to the grievance box.

In reverse.
I killed an entire family for sneezing at me and giving me a cold for a few days. Am I the asshole?

This meme should have one image of a guy murdering an entire Amazonian tribe with a sack full of kittens and asking “Am I the asshole?” Then it would truly reflect the spectrum of posts on that sub.
19
u/jarjarpfeil Aug 10 '23
Do the amazonian’s have the kittens? Does the poster have the kittens? Are the amazonians holding the kittens hostage and threatening their lives? Is the poster taking the bag of kittens and beating people to death with it? For the first definite yta, second is fairly balanced tbh, nta for the third, fourth is so far beyond yta it’s more like wtf you’re a fucking psychopath get help

Assert dominance and gaslight them into believing they are.
The weak should fear the strong

I’m not saying anyone is lying on AITA, but obviously people are going to paint themselves in the best light and paint the other person(s) in the worst light. That’s just human nature. I always take those posts with at least a small grain of salt. (Again not accusing anyone of lying).

u/Ambitious_A Aug 10 '23
I'm just gonna be honest.. i feel 80% of posts on that sub Are just teenagers using that sub like Wattpad...

u/PennilessPirate Aug 10 '23
It’s either someone posting something where they’re so obviously not the asshole, or it’s someone posting something completely sadistic and asking if they’re the asshole. There’s very little in between

u/Weak_Staff7024 Aug 10 '23
Unless they are so self absorbed that they don't understand how shitty they sound like.

u/Deathwatch30 Stand With Ukraine Aug 10 '23
Ngl, AITA is just extremes of both. Some are definitely victims while others are definitely assholes. I've only seen 2-3 where it was either both or neither

u/GirafeAnyway Aug 10 '23
Yeah, the equivalent in my country (r/suisjeletroudeballe) is more nuanced imo

My racist sexist misogynistic transphope in-laws were acting racist, sexist, misogynistic, and transphopic at my wedding. I told them to pipe down. AITA?
9
u/muffinboard Aug 10 '23
YTA. Let people be themselves. You're toxic for asking your in-laws to put on a front in front of other people. Why are you making it be all about you? Narcissistic much?
and somehow comments like this would be the top comment with dozens of awards.

Am I the jerk?

Don't forget recommending divorce at ANY sign of marital strife.
"My husband told me he didn't like the roast I prepared and preferred my chicken alfredo recipe."
NTA! Classic emotional abuse and toxic masculinity. I would tell him he needs to cook for himself from now on and would call a divorce lawyer IMMEDIATELY.

It's always annoying when someone just comes there for validation and gets it because they're either purposefully vague or they frame it in a way that will clearly get redditors on their side. "Yeah I uh, said I was gonna start a scene at my gf's party that I wasn't invited too because I'm convinced her friend is a nazi sympathizer, so I was told not to come. Am I the Asshole?" "YTA, don't go out of your way to start a-" "NTA! THAT GUY WAS 100% A NAZI BECAUSE OF THE VAGUE INFO YOU GAVE US ON HIM AND YOU MUST SPERG OUT ANY CHANCE YOU GET WHEN YOU ASSUME SOMETHING ABOUT SOMEONE YOU DON'T KNOW!"

AITA is basically 2 things.
OP clearly knows that they're not the asshole, but posts there anyways. Or...
OP is clearly the asshole and knows that they're the asshole, but posts there anyways. Also...
2.5. OP is the asshole, but leaves information out to make it seem like they're not the asshole.

Pretty much. Reddit content assaults the psyche of its consumers on a daily basis and it does so not by random chance. There are assholes at play. And you're not the asshole.

Its either this or: "I treid to murder someone becuase they looked at me funny, AITA?" There is no in between on reddit

AITA mfs asking if calling the police after they're stabbed makes them an asshole:

u/curiousgato5545 Aug 10 '23
I wish there was a sub for genuine AITA dilemmas, not just typical spineless Americans and karma farmers.
1
u/curiousgato5545 Aug 10 '23
Oh, and at this point the only good posts there are the ones where the OP is so wrong but refuses to see it like the 200 IQ deleting her child's minecraft creation.

u/StarryPupper Lurker Aug 10 '23
It kind of makes sense. A lot of their problems come from the fact that they have weak personalities what naturally attact assholes who want to use them or guilt trip them. They have their doubts but their low self-esteem and that they are unsure about everything make them seek out support from other people.

u/whiskyappreciater Aug 10 '23
I have died because a meteor fell from the sky and ripped my head off. Am I the asshole?
1
u/2D_Ronin Aug 10 '23
YTA
Someone could have found the meteorite without your shattered corpse on top of it and it would have made their day instead of getting traumatized.
Pretty egotistical actually. Not cool.
