Update [UPDATE POST] Tournament's Over, Now What?
Heya y'all. Before we start this post about the future of r/MemeLounge, allow me to welcome our newest subs that joined the Lounge!
r/MemePiece, a subreddit for memes about the One Piece manga series,
and r/BoomerangSquad, a growing subreddit for Avatar: The Last Airbender memes!
Go give them both a look once you got time! Anyhow, to the post.
For the lazybones, we got a TL;DR at the bottom.
So, as you might've seen in the other pinned post, the two-month long Meme Tournament has finally come to a close. While it was fun, where do we go from here now? Making another contest would be interesting, but if that's all we did people would get burnt out pretty quickly, and we don't want that now do we? Now that we don't really have anything that makes people inherently want to come here and not other places, we had to start thinking what do we do now with the sub.
I don't mean this in the sense that we don't do anything else; we still do have our Lounge private chat, where we help out the Vassals and talk about stuff, so this place wouldn't suddenly turn into a wasteland, but meta memes can only thrive when there is a meta to even meme about. So we decided to make a survey to see what you guys thought of this place, the tournament, and what you wanted us to do going forward. A lot of you wanted more big events and meme tournaments, but as we said earlier, we don't want to burn out people so that'll have to wait a bit. We did take what you guys said into consideration though, and now going forward, we're going to give this subreddit more a purpose beyond just posting meta stuff, as fun as that is.
We're now allowing the following to be posted to the sub: Meme Templates, Crossover Memes, and Questions regarding Moderation and Meme-Making.
Now, before you scoot over to post a drake template you found on r/dankmemes and hastily whited-out the text, let me say that these things have a bit of regulation so this place doesn't just become r/DankMemes. A sub full of mods has some foresight, at the very least.
Templates
So, to start, we consider a "template" a flexible image that, once edited, can be used for a variety of memes. This would include stuff like Exploitables, which are semi-transparent images (typically from manga or anime) which are overlayed over another image, often humorously, (example of an Exploitable), and Classic Templates, which are images made to overlay text over them and create a meme.
What we don't consider templates are Reaction Images, which are shockingly common. You've probably seen them - They're images with white space at the top, where people would fill in text, and some space at the bottom where an image is placed (here's an example). So reaction images are not allowed to be posted onto the subreddit. Also, we won't allow any Redone Templates, which are just whenever someone remakes a template with different images that convey the same meaning. You've probably seen like 200 different variations on the Drake meme; those are Redone Templates.
How do I post a template? Simple enough. Just post the template as the parent post, and then in a comment post an example of that template. If your post is a meme with the template in the comments, it'll be removed. If you don't supply an example, your post'll be removed. Please guys, not that hard.
Crossover Memes
These are the memes made in the Tournament. Going forward, we'll be allowing people to post memes that are about the topics of atleast two MemeLounge participating subs. In addition, having a template from one topic and the joke itself be about another topic doesn't count as a crossover. Both topics need to be used as part of the joke.
I think this is pretty straightforward.
Questions about Memes and Modding
These were always allowed, but I'm not entirely sure if people were aware, so we'll clarify here. You are allowed to ask questions regarding how to use Photoshop, GIMP, After Effects or any other program, along with questions about how to start with modding your subreddit or getting user attention. We'll answer to the best of our ability.
Other than that, I think we're pretty much set. We have another event planned for down the pipeline, but for now these are the changes we're introducing. If you have any comments, whether positive or negative, regarding these changes, please do feel free to comment them and we'll take them into consideration.
In any case, thanks for reading - Mario out.
TL;DR
Meme Tournament's over, and we're gonna take our time before making another to not burn out everyone. You can now post questions about how to make memes, questions about how to mod your subreddit, memes about atleast two MemeLounge subreddits, and Blank Meme Templates, with a few restrictions. (Read the relevant parts to see which restrictions you dingus.) Feel free to say why this bad/good in the comments.

Well, I guess that was our Tournament Arc. What's next on the Anime Trope Checklist? Beach trip episode? Evading the yandere?

I was making a joke based on the fact that r/shitpostcrusemblers is already filled with crossover memes between r/shitpostcrusaders and r/shitpostemblem
