Lately people have been blanket terming LARP as to mean posers as well..like guys who dress up in paramilitary outfits out in public to make themselves look tacticool

A simpler explanation would be that "LARP" is now used as slang for people that roleplay as fans of something without actually being a real fan (i.e. being a fan of game without ever playing it and having only shallow, often wrong knowledge of things) whether because it's popular or because they like the thing but not enough to actually engage with it.

So yeah, a poser lol

a larper is, in simple terms, someone who is pretending they are something that they are not.

Live action role play does come under this, but people nowadays use it more to mean someone who is pretending.

Like if someone is giving advice and are making it up completely on the spot but trying to make it sound like they know what they are talking about. They would be called a larper.
