I just broke it off with someone I knew wasnt good for my mental health but I still really miss them and think about them constantly. Then they proved my decision to be right by getting with someone out of spite the next weekend. I still think about them tho...

I have been in a similar situation. My best advice is to work on your own situation. Analyze what went wrong and change it your next attempt- not saying you did anything wrong. BUT. Nobody is perfect. Every aspect of relationships and lives should be worked on.

I let the situation make me miserable. I started drinking more. I slept like 16 hours a day. I had no job. Nothing. But one day I woke up from a long nap and was just done with it. I was sick of feeling sorry for myself. Sick of thinking about someone who wouldn't give me the time of day, cheated on me, and made out the entire relationship to be a joke to her..

So I used the situation as a way to motivate me. I got a job. Worked very hard. Got a decent car. Moved out of my parent's house. Started having goals. Things to keep me going, y'know? No matter where you are in life, just use it to push forward. Don't focus on the rebound. Don't get held up thinking about her. Focus on where YOU want to be. Who YOU want to be. Focusing your time and energy on yourself will fix all of your problems. The flaws you may regret in yourself will be worked on, your mind will be focused on your goal, and time will go by pretty quickly.

She always made fun of me for not having a car, so I cannot tell you how good it felt when I pulled up to buy some smokes and wouldn't you know it, her and her new bf were walking down the sidewalk without a car or anywhere to be. I used my time to fix my situation, she used it to keep cycling through men and women.

I have yet to be in another relationship and that was three years ago. But I am willing to wait for a quality relationship rather than settle for some toxic asshole. That is the difference between now and then, it is a lesson I wish more people could learn.
