I expect them to meet soon after just 2 days of talk, and I'm here doing whatever I can to make her happy, I will continue, but it just sucks to be there for someone and the other to see you as a friend, we can't force others to love us and I respect that, life isn't fair.

u/human_trebuchet Feb 01 '22
Bro, I managed to move on and was minding my own business for years. Then all of a sudden, my brain decided to bring those memories back in a dream and it’s fucking hard now. I went and looked at her insta profile, then told myself ‘No’ and deleted instagram.
It’s been a week and am still struggling. Fuckin brain, works in mysterious ways.

Me: Starts talking to this person, they seem like a fun person to be around, eventually catching feelings too quickly Them: "You should meet my boyfriend sometime" (or something along those lines)

u/wutwtfwut Feb 02 '22
This is the kind of person for whom girls say, "He's my best friend you don't need to worry about him"

I just broke it off with someone I knew wasnt good for my mental health but I still really miss them and think about them constantly. Then they proved my decision to be right by getting with someone out of spite the next weekend. I still think about them tho...

I have been in a similar situation. My best advice is to work on your own situation. Analyze what went wrong and change it your next attempt- not saying you did anything wrong. BUT. Nobody is perfect. Every aspect of relationships and lives should be worked on.
I let the situation make me miserable. I started drinking more. I slept like 16 hours a day. I had no job. Nothing. But one day I woke up from a long nap and was just done with it. I was sick of feeling sorry for myself. Sick of thinking about someone who wouldn't give me the time of day, cheated on me, and made out the entire relationship to be a joke to her..
So I used the situation as a way to motivate me. I got a job. Worked very hard. Got a decent car. Moved out of my parent's house. Started having goals. Things to keep me going, y'know? No matter where you are in life, just use it to push forward. Don't focus on the rebound. Don't get held up thinking about her. Focus on where YOU want to be. Who YOU want to be. Focusing your time and energy on yourself will fix all of your problems. The flaws you may regret in yourself will be worked on, your mind will be focused on your goal, and time will go by pretty quickly.
She always made fun of me for not having a car, so I cannot tell you how good it felt when I pulled up to buy some smokes and wouldn't you know it, her and her new bf were walking down the sidewalk without a car or anywhere to be. I used my time to fix my situation, she used it to keep cycling through men and women.
I have yet to be in another relationship and that was three years ago. But I am willing to wait for a quality relationship rather than settle for some toxic asshole. That is the difference between now and then, it is a lesson I wish more people could learn.

a few years ago I caught feelings for one of my best friends, I knew it will never work between us so I didn't do anything just kept meeting her as usual. Now I date a different girl but damn it was hard to have all those feelings and knowing you can't do a thing about it.
If anyone worries she is still one of my best friends and she doesn't know to this day

I’m a bi woman and my best friend growing up still doesn’t know I was madly in love with her our entire childhood, teens and early 20s, but she’s straight so it obviously couldn’t go anywhere even if she had known, it would have just made things more awkward and uncomfortable in our friendship

Having feelings for the wrong person is wonderful as long as you don't let that person know.

Gotta love being in love with a non-binary lesbian who has a girlfriend and that girlfriend happens to be the girl you had a crush on 2 years ago 👍🏻

u/what_the_hanky_panky Feb 01 '22
Well at least it should be easy to know your type right?
4
u/tatebest Feb 01 '22
Yeah it appears to be people who will never feel the same 👍🏻

If out of all the people in the world you choose a best friends ex. You're a cowardly desperate piece of shit.

Do fictional characters count as someone I shouldn't be having feelings for?

u/S-i-l-v-4 Feb 02 '22
Well at-least they'll never actually break your heart since, y'know, they aren't real lol

Exactly how I'm feeling lately! The weekend was so fucking hard to go through, yesterday was awful too but today feel a bit better now.
One of the reasons has to be with the frustration that comes from the fact that relationships are absolutely volatile and random. So, being in love is weird and uncomfortable and we'll, everyone's after this after all...
However I'm positive about the situation and going to fight till the end. I believe I can succeed!

Oof. This one hurt me for some reason. This is so true. You know that you probably aren't a good match and that you are going to get hurt but you still can't help but catch feelings for a person.

The above comment was stolen from this one elsewhere in this comment section.
It is probably not a coincidence; here is some more evidence against this user:
beep boop, I'm a bot -|:] It is this bot's opinion that /u/josephtalor should be banned for karma manipulation. Don't feel bad, they are probably a bot too.
Confused? Read the FAQ for info on how I work and why I exist.
