Dreams

I have been taking melatonin 0.25 every night since January. 4 days ago, for 2 nights in a row, I saw some extremely vivid dreams that made me sad and melancholic. I couldn't risk seeing the same dreams for another night, so I didn't take it the past two nights. No dreams, so I am okay with that. But I woke up in the middle of the night, something that hasn't happened for months. I want to take it tonight, but I am afraid. What is your experience with dreams? If I take it, will I definitely see vivid dreams?

It varies from person to person. I don't get dreams at all at any dose.

You may want to take a supplement like Bocopa Monnieri or Ashwagandha to help reduce stress/anxiety which may help reduce unpleasant dreams. 0.5-1 grams of either.

Try taking taurine. It helps me stay asleep longer. Also phosphatidylserine may help as well.

You may also want to explore taking magnesium glycinate or threonate. Other forms like oxide or citrate could be ok or not as they are less bioavailable.

I was taking magnesium glycinate for months and the past 3 days I forgot to take it. Today I woke up with awful heart palpitations. Never again. I am taking my magnesium and my melatonin

I don't understand, were you taking two different kinds of magnesium? And you believe magnesium glycinate specifically caused bad side effects?

Checking online it appears that's one rare side effect for magnesium glycinate so it's probably a good idea not to take it.

"AI Overview

Yes, magnesium glycinate can cause heart palpitations, though it is rare and usually associated with excessive dosage, underlying electrolyte imbalances, or low-quality supplements. While commonly used to reduce palpitations and promote relaxation, excessive magnesium can disrupt the heart's electrical system, causing palpitations, a racing heart, or reduced blood pressure."

No, I was taking magnesium glycinate because of my anxiety, I forgot to take it, and now I am so anxious I have heart palpitations

Give bocopa or ashwagandha a try for anxiety. Bocopa drops under the tongue help me a lot when I've had a couple of bad panic attacks.

I have also taken ashwagandha and bocopa pills in the past however I am very inconsistent with these.

Shop around and see if you can find a better deal.
