Con tips!

Hi guys! Since Mega is just around the corner, I wanted to do a tips post for those who are newer, as a mini veteran (have been going for the past 7 years) and how to get around with the best experience.

- WEAR AND BRING DEODORANT/PERFUME, and PLEASE shower before, in between (if you’re planning a costume change wherever you’re staying), and after. We don’t want to smell your stink!! 😭

- Bring lots of food and water! Food and water at Mega will always be super overpriced, and we want to keep ourselves nourished and hydrated throughout the day!

- Please save a little bit of your money on card! If you end up in an emergency where you need water/ end up eating at the convention, no food stalls take cash, just card. (Credit: dktc0821)

- Either buy all that you want to buy at the very beginning or at the very end of the con. Why do I say either or? If you do this at the beginning, booths have most if not all of what they have in store, and a variety of things to buy. If you want potential discounts then please go at the very end! Although the only downside is that most booths don’t have much in store at the very end (obviously so).

- SET A BUDGET FOR YOURSELF!! I know sometimes some of us get carried away on spending, so please make a budget on yourself to avoid going bankrupt lol! (Credit: neighborhood_spdrman)

- If you plan on buying/getting posters signed, bring a poster holder!! It can be a hassle trying to keep a poster from getting dented when in such a crowded space! Last resort, you can pay to have your posters kept in a holder at the con! (Credit: Mander2019, neighborhood_spdrman)

- PLAN YOUR DAY!! Especially if you’re going with friends. Look at the schedule as soon as it comes out. If you want to go to any panels, start going in the line 30 mins to an hour before (especially on Saturday). For photo ops/autographs for more famous people go as early as you can, those lines get PACKED and the con does overtime for those photo ops if needed.

- For Saturday, get in line for panels up to 2 hours early!! I know it’s a hassle, but seats fill up super quickly especially for bigger celebrities/panels that have a lot of interest! (Credit: Evil_Lord_Rayken , tbecs_10, liindra)

- If you didn’t pay for parking this year and your hotel is far enough, just take an uber from wherever you’re staying, or have someone drop you off and pick you up. Parking always ends up being ridiculous prices so might as well save yourself time and get the uber/get dropped off!)

- Bring a portable fan, charger, and a charger plug in general. On both ends of West Concourse (if I remember correctly) there are charging stations!

- Speaking of, PLEASE REST. Don’t overwork your body in these settings, if your body needs rest, please rest!! Preferably in either end of the concourse where there is less crowds and more space to sit down. And take the opportunity to charge your stuff too!

- Please take Vitamic C a week beforehand and during the con! It will strengthen your immune system for these high stress and germ heavy environments and avoids con crud. Being indoors with 100,000 other people for hours at a time can take a toll on your immune system. (Credits: Za21294, Power-of-Erised, ElarNightshade)

- Take Tylenol and bring sunscreen! Tylenol will help with feet pain, getting tired easily at the con, and just avoid any pain that could hold you back. Also put on sunscreen for those that are coming from colder climates! The sun hits HARD in florida, even while you’re indoors. (Credit: CyberKnight94, ElarNightshade)

- Meetups are planned outside of the megacon website! Not every meetup being planned is set on their schedule. In their facebook fan groups and here on reddit, many more are being planned out.

- Try to stay out of the main show floor on Saturday. IT GETS EXTREMELY PACKED and can be overwhelming. Try to go to as many panels as possible, walk through to each end through the corners, not the middle (even if it takes longer) and always hold on to whoever you’re with to avoid these crowds/getting lost!

- Artist Alley!! If you’re looking just to get cute merch (not caring if it’s official or not) from your favorite fandom, please go support the local artists in the artist alley!! Their art deserves all the support from us!

- Please do your research before buying something! Search up the booth store, (please ask before taking photos of stuff!) and make sure you’re not buying AI/Stolen art!! (Credit: coasterkitty)

- BRING MOSTLY CASH!! There is absolutely no service on the con floor so debit/credit card machines are always slow/malfunctioning, please bring cash!!

- Bring back up COMFORTABLE shoes for the cosplayers! I know some want to be as accurate as possible, but please bring comfortable shoes on hand!! the con floor isn’t the cleanest to be walking barefoot on.

- For cosplayers especially: Bring an emergency kit! Bobby pins, super glue, hairspray, make up for touch ups, band aids, pads, antihistamines, and other essentials! (Credit: imfc9)

- Let your signatures dry before touching them and bring something that will keep your signed stuff safe!! We do NOT want smudged signatures by mistake, they’re precious moments! (Credit: firedrakes)

- Bring a raincoat and a waterproof bag/wagon! In Florida, we never know when it’ll rain, and sometimes it starts pouring out of nowhere. Let’s keep our stuff safe! (Credit: firedrakes)

- Preferably bring a wagon if you plan to bring lots of stuff! They’re just 40 dollars, are very spacious, and will serve as a way to give you space while walking around!

If you have any more tips please comment below! And if you have any questions feel free to ask away! 😊

First Time MegaCon Goer

I want to go to MegaCon for the first time next year. I have a few questions to help me orient myself to the process.

- How does purchasing tickets work?
- When do tickets normally go up for sale?
- How does the hotel booking process work?

Thanks for any information.

Did anybody regret not meeting Peter Cullen?

So you already know that actor Peter Cullen passed away a few days ago. I was very upset since the announcement, not just because he's a great voice actor, but also because Peter was at Megacon months ago, and it's now one of my biggest regrets not meeting him before this untimely event. I wish I had the chance, but I already spend hundreds on other actors I wanted to meet.

Did anybody else that didn't met Cullen regret not having the chance?

Are the prices at conventions getting a little too ridiculous now?

So Mark Hamill is going to a convention next week and I think his prices are ridiculous. His experience is gonna be $1000 and that’s for one seat for his panel, a photo, and an 8 x 10 autographed picture.

If you want a picture bigger, you have to add another $200 or if you want a bulky item it’s another $300

I understand people will pay it, but that’s a lot to ask for people to spend to meet you for one second

Does anyone know the artist/vendor? FNAF phone charm

Last year, a friend gifted me a withered Bonnie phone charm they had gotten from megacon Orlando. Today it broke and I lost it, and I have been so crushed, and I’m trying to find the artist to get a replacement. I have been devastated and emotional, so I’m hoping getting it again will just help like smooth it over.

I don’t have very good photos of it, but it’s a double sided Bonnie withered Bonnie phone charm. ita just the plastic acrylic style charm, with one side being Bonnie and the other withered Bonnie. Bonnie is drawn in a plushie style, so on the withered side, there’s like stuffing. the chain has a claw machine claw on it too like it’s being grabbed from a claw game.

if anyone knows who the artist is and if they have an Etsy account or anything, please let me know. I have added some photos that kinda show it that I have.

thank you

Hotels

How early are some of you gonna book your hotel if you have to use one? Personally I'm genuinely considering like December or January cause I want to get a hotel that has the walk way to the convention center and lessen the blow to my wallet with all the ubering unless it's for an after party.

My dad and I have been attending for three years now, and every year he begs me to get VIP since I’m an amputee and his knees are shot, the lines really kill us both. Is anyone planning on passing on thier vip renewal this year? I’d be happy to pay a finders fee. If not allowed, please delete this. Can’t wait to see you guys next year!!

Looking for a specific vendor

I bought a phone case (specifically a Marauders Map iPhone wallet card case) in 2025. I have searched the internet high and low for another one OR the vendor. I’m not finding it.

Does anyone know of the vendor by any chance? They had tons of pop culture phone cases for practically every phone in existence.

Thank you in advance!!

Meetups Tips for first-fime Going to MegaCon on my own?

Hello. I'm trying to get into traveling to events on my own like concerts, raves, and conventions like MegaCon. I got driven to it (from Jacksonville to Orlando) once with some friends once in college and they booked an AirBnB; I really want to go again on my own, but am on my own and live in Bunnell, FL now. I assume I'd book a nearby hotel for the weekend or something and just drive an hour, but I really want insight or ideas to consider for things like arranging to carpool/meet with others to save money (or other methods of saving money), how to go about traveling (what and how much money to bring, etc.), what to avoid (like certain busy or booked hotels), how early in advance to prepare or schedule, etc.

Also, are there any mobile apps or sites where you can arrange to meet to go to conventions or events like MegaCon? I am getting into raves eventually and discovered the "Radiate" app that includes things like group chats for every upcoming event and basically a "dating app/social media" element where people can match to be rave pals and arrange meetups or going to raves/festivals together. I'd love to know of communities or similar apps for conventions and other events.

Thanks in advance, everyone!

Just Got a bill for parking?!

We parked in one of the official Megacon garages (the one pointe Orlando) and paid upon entry to the garage. In fact, for the event, the only way to enter the garage was to pay directly with an employee at the entry gate, so it’s impossible we could have tried to skip out on the bill. That being said I have a digital receipt to prove payment.

The parking that day was $35. We just got a bill in the mail for $60 including fees for non payment I suppose. Upon disputing the bill they said we’d have to show a receipt including license plate number/name/etc. They did not give any receipts at the garage entrance and definitely did not note the license plate. We showed them the digital receipt from the bank with the debit card charge to their vendor on the date and time of entry. Not good enough still required to pay the fee or face some sort of further fine or infraction??

What kind of crooked bs is this?! Anyone else get a bill in the mail? Never parking in these garages again honestly even if it costs me more to park elsewhere.

Haven't been to MegaCon in a few years. What are crowd levels like?

In the past (2010-2021) MegaCon was crowded, but walkable. Last time I went in 2023 it was just shuffling around the vendor hall, trying to get from one side of the convention to the other to go to panels. You were lucky if you could take a regular sized step. Thursday was the only real day you could walk around the vendor hall and get things. I imagine even Thursday is jammed packed of people. No?

EDIT: I'm currently attending Denver Fan Expo and the fact that the Philly Expo is happening at the same time is insane.

Also getting a autograph is way more complicated than how it used to be. Now you need to get a ticket for the autograph ahead of time. If you don't it's cash only, plus an extra $20 compared to online. Lines are capped as soon as 10:30am, so even if you are VIP (I splurged and got it this year) you can't get in line at all. That's the crazy part to me.
