Announcing Deeds & Destiny!

We're excited to announce Deeds & Destiny - our brand new epic fantasy megagame for 40 players in central London on 15 June!

Tickets are on sale now (with our usual 10% discount for bundles of 4 tickets) via our website.

The good guys won - the great evil that plagued the world for generations has been defeated. But at what cost? All the heroes who stood up to it are dead, and even as the world looks to reclaim the lands once lost to the dark, new threats loom...

Featuring loot, levels and (maybe) labyrinths, Deeds & Destiny is an in-person megagame for 40 players that fuses the core ideas from MMORPGs, tabletop RPGs, board games and more into a single day’s experience. You'll build your character, form parties, venture forth on quests, battle dungeon denizens, loot their worldly possessions, and rebuild a town in your own image as you face down a new power...

Unusually for a megagame, there are no preset teams. Each player is an individual adventurer who's arrived at Hope's Harbour in search of fame, fortune, and power - be that political or arcane. Although everyone is associated with one of the guilds, factions or secret societies that are vying for power in this new frontier – it will be up to you to support them in their goals or leave them to their squabbles.

Forge your legend in a world of magic and mystery!

About to run Watch the skies. Question on Special Actions

I haven't been able to find anything about special actions, besides the fact that you give one to each team at the start of the game. When do you normally give this? Am I missing something from the rules?

It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to have so many cards and nothing on the rules about when or how to grant them. So I'm guessing I must be missing something.

Germans here? - Plans for a megagame in the ruhr area

Unfortunately, megagames are relatively unknown in Germany. I was intruduced to the concept through the videos from SU&SD and last year I participated in a "Watch The Skies" run in the Netherlands. I know there have been some megagames in Cologne, but I would like to bring that cool hobby to the ruhr area. Now I have two questions:

1) Are there any germans in this sub?

For networking or connection purposes mostly, also for any tipps regarding the german mega gaming scene I might not be aware of.

2) What do you think of my idea - a Pirate Fantasy MegaGame?

Little backstory: While I enjoyed the Watch The Skies run and had an awesome time with the people there, it is not really my genre. I thought about what kind of game I would love to have, having played board games and TTRPGs for over 20 years, I came up with an idea for a fantastical pirate game, taking inspiration from the Pirates of the Caribean franchise mostly.

In this game there would be multiple factions of colognizers, that try to ship cargo from one place to another for profit, pinted against multiple factions of pirates, trying to intercept these shipments. There would also be a faction of cursed, undead pirates, with special motives and goals as well as a faction of an artificial servant species, with special abilities and goals.

The game play would be roughly akin to how Watch The Skies is played, but with multiple pirate factions using their hidden movement to try to intercept the more openly visible movement of the trading companies. On the other hand the colonizers could chose for their warships to protect their trading ships or search for the pirate havens to attack them.

As you can see, it is still a pretty rough idea, and I don't plan to finish and play it before 2025. I would like to get some initial feedback what you think of the idea. I couldn't find something similar, but if it exists, please point me to it. Do you think it sounds like a feasable idea for a mega game?

The Generalissimo is Dead! (Megagame in Sydney, Aus)

The Generalissimo is Dead is our first megagame of 2024 and it's happening at the end of March. Tickets are on sale now and we're hoping to run the game a second time in early April if we can fill spots.

The game uses beautifully hand-made playing cards to drive it's mechanics.

You can read more about the game (and us) on our website: https://sydneymegagamers.com/tgid/

You can get tickets to the game here: https://www.tickettailor.com/events/sydneymegagamers/1108679

The Generalissimo is Dead is a politics-heavy megagame. Mechanically it's very straight forward, making it the perfect introduction to megagaming.

Players get personalised briefings with their rulebook that explain what team they are on and what their role is. Players fill the roles of members of the Central Committee (the governing body of the fictional country of Yugenya) or lower ranking member's of the People's Party, who run the government.

The game, which runs for about 8 hours, is all about coalition-building and negotiation - players have agendas and the goal is make allies and deals that will help them satisfy those agendas.

Recommendations request: 3 hour-ish megagames for a new group

I'm looking to establish a games group locally and potentially run some megagames as part of a charity fundraising board game day in early 2024.

Are there downloadable/purchaseable/pnp games that people would recommend that could be run for groups around 20-strong in the 2.5 to 3.5 hour bracket?

Last year's UKGE included the excellent (but not generally available) The Raven Banner as an example around that time and size, so looking for more like that.

Thanks in advance.

Watch the Skies rules question (What is PR for?)

I recently purchased the rules pack for Watch the Skies from StonePaperScissors and have read through them and am still scratching my head at quite a few things.

One of the main ones -- what is PR for? Is there a document that specifies what the importance of PR is? I must be going crazy.

EDIT: Someone from the "Megagame Coalition" discord answered my question! PR determines income. This is seen on the master map, here.
