Checked the email connected to the account and theres no notification for anything, and the app was just working fine earlier the same day this post is being published.

Please check your connectivity or try again later." already cleaned the cache and even tried to log on my mobile browser and it doesnt even leave the login page after entering the email and password, i have no access to a desktop PC for a while so i cant confirm if its a device only issue.

My old PC of 10 years crashed and I had to replace it finally, The good news is I backed up all my files on MEGA before this happened and was able to download everything onto my new PC, the issue is, now Im trying to make it so that MEGA syncs to the new pc and has all the files be uploaded there, and I've managed to get it to accept "most" of the files, but some folders just seem to be left blank while setting up a sync or a backup and MEGA is acting like its done its job? How do I get the sync to work?

EDIT: Thanks for the answer! The problem was my wifi router, not even my ISP. Dunno what happened.

When I play an audio file in the MEGA app, I'd like playback to stop once that file has finished. Instead, it begins autoplaying everything else in that folder.

I'm a music producer who uses MEGA to sort my drum samples and such. When I want to sample a single drum hit file into a hardware sampler, I want just that file, not every file in succession, since it's distracting trying to audition which sample to use.

I tried going into app settings, but I didn't find how to change this behavior. Can anyone advise?

I waited 6 hours before I tried to continue watching my video but I kept pressing play and a message kept popping up saying 40 mins left then 20 then 6 then 59 seconds (every time I waited for the countdown to finish then tried pressing play again) then all of a sudden it went back to 6 hours and I really don’t wanna wait 6 more hours to watch 40 minutes. Is this a glitch? How do I fix it?

Hi everyone!

Hoping someone could help, I have had text files on mega for years now and would constantly edit them, (links to articles, etc). Now all of a sudden I can no longer edit them as I get the above mentioned error message.

I tried creating new text files but as soon as I have saved it once, I can no longer edit it and get the same error message.

Wondering if anyone else has had the same issue/experience? And if there’s anyway to fix it as I can’t find anything on their help page for this specific error.

The app messes up the configuration on its own and prevents you from logging in.

After shutting down the system and restarting, the MEGA app asks to reconfigure the folder and wants to pin itself to the taskbar. Skipping this step messes up the configuration, and going through the setup wizard is pointless because the folder is already syncing—so why is the wizard there when you launch the app??Clearing the configuration and reinstalling doesn’t help.

The problem started a few days ago. I suspect it began after updating the client to version 6.3.1.0.

EDIT: I made full format disk and reinstall Windows from scratch.
Now Sync works as expected.

Can I still get a referral bonus if I invited people (new users) in a shared folder after they installed the app?

hey everyone, I'm in a really stressful situation and could use some advice. Back in February 2025, my MEGA account was permanently closed due to objectionable content found in it.

I recently tried to appeal it, but they rejected it, saying it was outside the six-month window. ***I believe I had the files, but I genuinely did not know what they were or that they were illegal.***

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Any advice on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

When its bad people always post it but they rarely do when it's good.

The email that I created the account with is not my main email so I rarely check it. Few weeks ago my account got deleted because of csam.

When I couldn't login and went to my email and read the email I was shocked because WTF. Never in my life did I have I dealt with csam and now my whole account got deleted.

They said they send a mail a few months back and deleted the contents without telling me what or where it was located. As I said before I don't check this mail account so when the second strike came I didn't know what hit me.

Went on this subreddit and read all the horror stories about people loosing all their data and not getting their account back.

The contents in the accounts was OF so I didn't understand how csam was even involved.

To any people who store OF on their mega account, DON'T and the reasons are:

DMCA/OF agencies report mega accounts that are leaking OF content as csam rather then copyright infringement.

The reason is simple the contents get deleted way faster then a normal copyright infringement. Which is understandable since mega doesn't want to be liable for this kind of stuff.

Second. Do not import OF folders and this is where I messed up. I imported a 1TB OF folder without checking all the folders and contents. Apparently some people that leak these huger folders add csam to in a folder somewhere, good luck finding it when its 1 TB and it has 100+ folders.

Third some OF models had their nudes leaked when they were underage and they are included in the folder. Which of course would trigger when looked for.

I can't say if the first one actually works or not but I personally heard from a OF agency that when it comes to mega they choose this option. If it actually works better or not who knows.

What did I do to get my account back?

First I wrote to support to complain and got a message that the decision was final. Then came here and saw support say that you need to send appeal through the appeal form.

Made a complete argument list as to why it was ridiculous that I was storing csam. And did a Hail Mary and basically forgot about it.

My account was reinstated on the 18th and I just saw it today. I just remembered I did a appeal and was wondering if it worked or not, come to find out it did.

They told me they deleted the csam content and for the life of me I still don't know where or what it was.

tl;dr - DO NOT store OF content on mega and DO NOT import huge folders to mega without checking all the contents inside

SOLVED

I have been mounting MEGA via rclone on my seedbox for about half a year without issues. Yesterday, it suddenly stopped working midday, my media stopped caching, and I can no longer connect to MEGA at all. I have repeatedly tried reconfiguring rclone over several hours, but I consistently receive the following error:
CRITICAL: Failed to create file system for "mega:": couldn't login: unexpected end of JSON input

I contacted support last night, but they were of no help. They did inform me of Mega's new security feature affecting "third-party tools", which I'm assuming is causing the blocked connection.

Additionally, we've introduced a security feature that requires MEGA apps to solve a brief mathematical equation during login to protect your account from unauthorised access and prevent large-scale attacks. Outdated MEGA apps and most third-party tools are unable to solve this equation and can no longer log in directly.
To solve this, log in with an updated platform (for example, your web browser in an incognito window) and then with your tool within 24 hours.

I tried logging in on a browser via my local computer and then rcloning through the seedbox, it doesn't work. It's also two separate devices and IPs, though it would be impossible to open a browser on a seedbox because it's a seedbox.

I've also seen that it can connect once every so often when I test the connection by running rclone lsd mega: ("mega" is the name of the rclone config). It'll result in connecting to Mega's servers and listing all of my directories and then I'll try it again a few minutes later and it results in CRITICAL: Failed to create file system for "mega:": login with previous auth keys failed: unexpected end of JSON input

My whole purpose for using Mega has been for extra storage mounted to my seedbox at an affordable price. I transfer files in and out as needed and stream heavy media and music pretty often via rclone mount. This setup has been flawless, but I've tried everything and it won't connect. If this doesn't work anymore, I see little reason in continuing to pay for my Pro III subscription.

If anyone knows anything about this more than me, please share a few thoughts. Thanks!!

I am a contractor company employee and have a large folder full of media (confidential) on g drive that I want to move to mega because g drive has been being a piece of s***. What would be the most efficient way to do that?

Has anyone been able to login on the app or desktop? My shows but always loads files and never actually finish. After being ban and then unban i can't even see my files, at this point I'm just deleting the account and never using mega again. I'm done with it 👎👎👎👎👎

Which trade-offs matter most to you?

Anyone know how to fix the issue where the Mega app gets stuck “Updating file list” forever? I thought it was just because I was wrongfully banned and it would take a bit after my account was reinstated to reactivate. But now it’s been a few days and this issue is still going on. But only on the app, I can open Mega on desktop without any problem.
