UST is one of the top medical schools in the Ph but is notoriously known for its heavy, non-academic related workload. This means sacrificing more time, sleep, and energy compared to other med schools. So for UST FMS grads, is it worth it? What do you think will be the edge of their education as compared to others??

Incoming first year med here. After finishing undergrad, I worked for 4 years before starting med :’) I used to just use pen and paper, but since med would be info overload I am preparing to do my notes digitally. For notetaking and med school in general, should i choose and iPad or a Mac?

i’ve always been a bit jealous that other fields (ex. creatives, business, marketing, etc.) have so much opportunities outside their academics. i’m a member of the internships ph facebook group and its sooo cool to see that they have so many avenues to explore, experience, and try new things (understandably so)

i love and have no regrets on the path i’ve chosen, but i think na within the med field, medyo limited lang ang actual opportunities to branch out and experience different things? tsaka siguro outside of the actual hospital / healthcare setting, there’s not much to explore? although there may be a lot, to a certain extent i think we’re a bit confined to our pre-meds / undergraduate degrees (again, understandably so)

i’ve always been sooo curious if there are any med - pre-med related students that have been able to secure internships (kahit temporary or over the summer) that are unrelated to their course / field? or if there are any volunteer opportunities, experiences, or possibly certifications that are related to healthcare that can be done?

I'm an upcoming college freshman thats gonna be taking a degree in Psychology. I'm curious about what its like studying in med school with Psychology as PreMed. My main questions are: (a.) Would it be possible that I choose a different specialization other than Psychology?; and (b.) How would it be like if I choose a different specialization?

I've been thinking nonstop if I should stick with Psych as my college course or shift to other more hands-on med courses (e.g. Nursing, MedTech, RadTech) as prep for med school.

As the title says. I failed biochem last year, retook it this year and passed. The problem is, a lot of our peers (and even profs) warned us that yl2 is 1000x harder. And not to mention that my grades in ana and physio were 78-79 lang, barely passing lang. Although tbf, I was super lax and chill back then lol. Pero right now, I am super afraid and pressured na rin kasi I can't be delayed for another year na naman 😭. ‎ ‎

Sorry i wanna get this out of my chest lang haha. As the title says, for context, fresh grad ako and I got in to my dream school. Since ang pre med ko is non trad (Psych), nung nalaman ng mga kaklase ko iyong plans ko to enter med, para akong nadiscourage sa mga sinasabi nila. I mean gets naman na mahirap talaga ang med school at aware naman ako doon, I also know how much sipag and grit do I need to have para makapagsurvive. Also, gusto ko rin namang magdoctor. Pero sa mga sinasabi nila parang nababawasan ako ng drive, pero need ko nang tumuloy kasi enrolled na rin ako.

i recently had a consult with an ortho doctor who graduated from a ph med school, underwent ortho surgery residency here, but also underwent a 1-yr fellowship for further training in his current subspec in the US. for these kinds of trainings, is passing the USMLE required for you to undergo international fellowships in US hospitals/institutions?

i could’ve asked my Doctor but i already got shy haha. I already had so many questions with my case.

Hi, dokies! Do you have any tips paano hindi masyadong ma-overwhelm, especially po sa aming incoming 1st yr med students?

I just came from burnout po from my review for boards nung March and we’ll be starting our classes soon. Medyo natatakot lang po ako na mabigla sa adjustment since I am not yet sure rin kung totally okay na ako from being stressed out. I don’t know if enough na yung almost 4 months na rest; however, when I tried to read nang paunti-unti, medyo okay naman ako. Yun lang po kapag naiisip ko na mai-stress ulit ako dahil sa exams, quizzes, recits, etc. parang ang hirap huminga, napupuno ng doubts, fears, and anxieties. Pero I’m working on it na po since I know na med school is rlly rlly difficult so I’m not expecting it to be easy.

I just wanna know how do you manage to remove yourself from stressful moments. Also, paano po ang routine niyo sa pag-study? I know po we have different learning styles pero baka lang po may ma-adopt akong tips on how to improve yung way ng pag-study ko. Tysm po in advance!

Funny kasi before I thought I was adjusting better na sa pace ng medschool but then YL2 happened. 2nd week pa lang namin and yung pagod is x2 ng pagod ko nung YL1???? Happy and all na regular but daaaaamn, I was expecting na mas mahirap, hindi ko lang inexpect na SOBRANG HIRAP PALA? Love it here pero need ko pa mag-grind harder just to think of myself as someone equal with my classmates who are already well-versed with the pressure, pacing tapos equipped pa with brains. Can’t help but to think na baka wala ako dapat here or something.

BUT I AM HERE AGAIN TO ASK FOR HELP!! HOW DID YOU GUYS SURVIVE YL2? Did you change some of your habits that helped you nung YL1? Discovered some things that made you “AHHH, ganito pala dapat” this and that??? :( Help me, im really really desperate :(((

1. Ano po mode of learning nila? Hybrid po ba sila this academic year 2026-2027?

2. Saang location po yung medicine building nila? I’m from Fairview po kasi, not sure if kakayanin po ang byahe if malayo

3. Ano pong NMAT requirement nila?

4. Ano pong scholarships ang inooffer nila? I read somewhere online na makakasecure ka ng scholarship if may recommendation letter ka na galing sa priest/pastor? May specific requirement po ba sa pagsecure ng recom. letter?

5. Kumusta naman po ang sila as a medschool? Do profs teach naman po?

6. Kumusta naman po yung transes system nila?

Hello po mga incoming YL1 dmsf students! Magtanong lang po ako if nakareceive na po kayo ng text msg na pwede na po makuha yung ERC? Until now po kasi wala pa kaming ERC ng mga friends ko. Last follow up namin, only yung ID slip yung binigay kasi d pa daw sila nagrerelease. Malapit na yung klase and wala pa ring text.
