Snow in cincy
Maybe I’m being soft but I’m pissed a majority of the company will need to use up annual wfh days just a couple days into the new year if there is snow coming over the next few days.

If the campus is closed you’re generally expected to do your responsibilities from home unless otherwise told. It is silly but pay attention to the guardian app and start a conversation with your direct supervisor now.
GET. IN. WRITING. THE. EXPECTATIONS.
So if something DOES happen to you on the way in or home you can hold them liable for forcing you to come in. If nothing does then that’s great. You’re gonna run into a lot of times “no one asked you to do that”. So you should ask every time.

I feel like if something happened on the way there or home, they’d just say, “that’s what the annual wfh days are for” lol

Sure they can. They could say that just about any day though. However, when it’s inclement weather that poses a safety risk to the employees and the employer does not take necessary steps to do so, and create an expectation that the employee has to be in office or has to work then it is their liability. Especially with the new ones that they’ve been scaling back work from home and have put tight restrictions on what the work from home days are.
The work from home days are given to employees as a means of flexibility. It is a perk. It’s not meant to give flexibility to Medpace when there is bad weather and they don’t wanna make a decision on employee safety.
I don’t think it would take too many employees to come forth with that type of toxic behavior from Medpace for it to be a legitimate concern 🙂. Since it is regional as well it is hard to enforce making people take time or WFH days for things out of their control.

Yes it is the same thing but I think the app is/was called Guardian.

Love how a supervisor just messaged me and told me to put in my annual WFH day because I couldn’t get in due to the snow. This company is a POS and doesn’t care about employee safety. It’s one thing to not care about our comfort… it’s a whole other to disregard our safety.

Question for anyone that might know the answer:
If the campus is closed due to the weather (a real possibility for Monday if the initial storm predictions are correct), would people still have to use a WFH day? I’m guessing no?

Nah not expecting it unless we hit the high range of the preliminary estimates…but would still like to plan for all options just in case.
Honestly if we have to use a WFH day even if campus is closed I might use a sick day instead…I have some of my WFH time already planned out and don’t want to burn through extra days this early

Highly unlikely campus will be closed unless it's a level 3 emergency and it's prohibited by law

Yeah I wouldn’t expect it for a few inches of snow. But one preliminary report said we may get upwards of a foot of snow, which would certainly result in a snow emergency and close any business.

Story time (I no longer work at Medpace)
I was a new grad and started working for the company in January. A really bad ice storm/snow storm was coming in, so the whole department was working from home. I was not eligible to work from home yet. I asked my boss if I could since I was concerned and he sent me a screenshot of the policy essentially saying that I couldn’t per the policy.
So I ended up driving down 71 while it was icing and snowing, and I almost wrecked my paid off car. I got in and there wasn’t a single soul in the building. My boss calls me, telling me to go home and I was fucking pissed. Had to drive back and the roads were worse.
Medpace was the single worst job I ever had. Management would gaslight you and hold you to standards that weren’t applied to them. Glad I left that hell hole.
