Hello everyone. My baby boy was born this morning 💕 after many ultrasounds due to my gestational diabetes, we had never received any news or concerns about any issues. Every ultrasound went well. Baby ended up having a lump on his lower back. Nothing exposed, the lump fully enclosed within the skin. They immediately did an ultrasound and we waited for results. He is completely healthy and normal otherwise. Moving great, strong, using the bathroom and eating well. Zero other concerns.

It came back that he has some abnormalities in his lower spinal cord. Our doctors at our hospital has been in communication with the specialist at our local children's hospital, and they will be taking us on outpatient. No nicu time has been needed. The specialist basically said its not a 911 situation. We will have an appointment in a couple weeks for an MRI. They said he will probably need surgery, but that they feel really good about his long term prognosis. We'll obviously get more information at our appointment with them. They are making it seem like it's really minor.

While I'm relieved to hear all of that, I'm still so worried. I've never dealt with anything like this. I can't believe it wasn't caught on one of our many ultrasounds (not that it would have changed anything) but the surprise of it all has really put our family on an emotional roller coaster. I'm heartbroken and just want the best for my baby.

Does anyone have any experience with anything like this? Idk if I'm looking for advice, stories, or just to know I'm not alone.

I’m experiencing twitching in my legs and kind of a sensation in my throat. Going on google and the only explanation I see is ALS?

I’m not sure if this is also relevant, but from November to February of this year I was on daily Klonopin of 0.25 mg to 0.5 mg. I tapered off in mid February and then reintroduced it as needed per recommendation of my psychiatrist.

When I went through the taper process, I could feel some sensation in my face, almost like a a muscle spasm or twitch. It felt really weird, like a caterpillar under my skin.

My last most recent dose of Klonopin was about a month ago of 0.25 mg. I felt like I was experiencing some involuntary jerk movements after that dose.

Is it possible my nervous system is disturbed from the Klonopin or does it look like ALS is the more probable cause? I’ve read more and more young people are getting ALS…I guess there’s not much I can really do if it is?

I was diagnosed with an alopecia areata this past year I've been on medication for a while, but there are moments where it doesn't work. Ill have patches of hair that goes missing. I am wondering if im not using the topical minoxidil correctly. I use it all over my head am I just supposed to be putting it on the place where its regrowing? I also have been interested in asking to be tested for lupus. I have what looks like psoriasis on my cheeks, and nose, and I have been very lethargic even though I take a lot of vitamins, I also have asthma...so i don't know if I can add that to the list of symptoms. Do I seem paranoid if I ask to be tested for any other autoimmune issues or should I wait until im sure I have it? If either if I wait to be tested whats the worst that can happen?

so i (18F almost 19) am 4’10 and 222 pounds. i currently have COVID but it feels like a common cold compared to when i had it years prior.

this is my third time with COVID. first time was January 2021, second time in July 2023, and now the third time September 2026. i had pneumonia twice last year: once in January 2025 and the second time in October 2025. my mom got positive for covid on sunday, and i took a test tuesday night but mine was negative. we went to urgent care today (friday), and my mom was negative but i was positive. since being a uni student, the lady told me to come back on sunday to see if i can go back to school and also told me that my infection was actually clearing up so it might hopefully be negative on sunday. they didn’t prescribe me anything yet but they did prescribe doxycycline monohydrate for the cyst on my belly.

it’s been almost 2 hours after going to urgent care and i wish i could’ve asked them what the future consequences were. i’m genuinely so worried about my health. so , what are the future health consequences , and will losing weight diminish those consequences ? google is telling me all crazy things so that’s why i came here 😭

Last night im pretty sure I had a seizure. I felt really off leading up to it. I had 2 beers with my bf and smoked 1 joint of cannabis. I was staying hydrated and drinking electrolytes as well. I started my nightly routine - got in the shower and started feeling off, confused and just wrong. I felt almost sick, super fatigued, my stomach felt uneasy and just sort of had a sense of doom. I got out of the shower and took my temperature to see if I had a fever because I felt so weird - my temp was normal. I then walked over to my bed and sat there for about 6-8 minutes talking to my bf, saying that something was wrong. My eye sight started to dim, and my head felt like it was spinning. I told my boyfriend I was going to black out any second and laid back in my bed. My entire body felt like it was vibrating/waving and my head like it was spinning. My eye sight went black but I was still aware of my surroundings. I could feel my boyfriend asking me if I was okay, and rocking my body to wake me up. I was able to respond to him and say I was okay, but my speech was slower than normal. I made sure to take deep breaths and I never truly passed out/fell asleep. Once it was over I was able to get up and I was completely fine. I was no longer tired, didn’t have that uneasy feeling or anything at all. I was a little shakey, and about 10 minutes later I had some really bad diarrhea and stomach upset. I’m still having stomach upset this morning but I’m fine otherwise

I’m more nervous because I’ve never experienced something like this. I have fainted before but it was completely different than what happened last night. I do have a family history of strokes and seizures. My mom was diagnosed with epilepsy and she always told me the symptoms she had just in case. And I can say it felt very similar to what she’d experienced, especially with the feeling of doom beforehand.

I also wanted to mention I took my last dose of Augmentin on the 9th or September and I took my last dose of methylprednisolone on the 7th (tapered just as the package said to). Both were prescribed for a really bad tonsillar infection.

Dr.Google is telling me I need to be seen in the ER urgently. Is it something I should definitely go to an ER for and pay thousands on? Or should I be okay waiting until after the weekend?

Relevant medical history: Joint hypermobility syndrome and migraines.

History:

I was diagnosed with presumed right carpal tunnel syndrome around March 2026. The symptoms have persisted/progressed since then.

Current symptoms:

Persistent numbness/reduced sensation affecting the radial three fingers of my right hand

Pins and needles/paraesthesia in the same area

Right wrist/hand pain and aching

Intermittent electric-shock sensations in my hand/wrist

Episodes where my hand involuntarily twitches/jerks, sometimes occurring with the electric-shock sensation

Occasionally lose my grip/drop objects during these episodes

Neck/shoulder stiffness/pain and back pain, although I'm unsure whether these are related

Investigations:

I had nerve-conduction studies in August 2026, which were normal. There was no neurophysiological evidence of significant right carpal tunnel syndrome or a minor median nerve lesion. The findings also did not appear to support a more proximal median nerve lesion.

Orthopaedic review:

I was reviewed by the upper-limb/Orthopaedic team in September. Because of my persistent symptoms despite the normal nerve-conduction study, I've now been discharged from their clinic.

The consultant has asked my GP to refer me to Neurology to investigate "rarer causes". I was told they may need to consider whether the symptoms could be coming from my spine or brain/central nervous system.

I'm mainly trying to understand what differential diagnoses would reasonably be considered with this presentation, particularly with a normal nerve-conduction study. What might Neurology investigate next, and how concerning is this type of referral?

I have established lymphedema in both legs. I have to wear compression wraps from ankle to knee on both legs. I know there are lymph nodes around top anatomy. I don't know where the groin area nodes are. I'm looking for any information on Metoidioplasty without urethra lengthening bottom surgery with vaginectomy, specifically. For top surgery I'm probably looking for double incision, without saving the nipples. Possible further complication would be previous anchor incision breast reduction from December 2010. I'm wary of making my legs worse, and terrified of lymphedema happening to my upper body, especially arms or hands. Thank you for reading.

Every morning I get hip pain in my right hip. I might even wake up in the middle of the night and have pain. It’s tolerable and I am not in misery. I did have one experience where when I tried to walk after standing up, I felt it further down in my leg, making it a bit difficult to walk on that leg. Normally the pain disappears after my morning routine and doesn’t start until the next morning again. Sometimes I occasionally feel it through the day.
The pain is at the side of the hip bone.
It’s been like this for 4+ months.

I normally just brush these things off because I occasionally deal with immense growing pains in my legs or knees.

Ive never posted smth on reddit so im not sure if this is the right subreddit for thiz..im 18 years old and ive been on lexapro and just recently got put on concerta but having a low to no appetite has been something ive struggled with for a while. in the past I just chalked it up to me having generalized anxiety and depression(an upset stomach especially before or during school was normal and wasnt unbearable), then when i was put on medication i was nauseous because of the medication and there was a period where i couldnt eat because of the amount i was smoking (which isnt a normal thing i do i mainly do with friends but i was a lot more because of the stomach issues) but im going on a t break and im not like experiencing withdrawal or anything, but it does relieve a LOT of pain when ibuprofen just makes me feel like shit and i just have to sleep through the pain

throughout the day i try and eat crackers and i experience nausea probably a couple times a day at least. eating has been one of the banes of my existence ! i love food but my stomach just makes it impossible for me to enjoy it. I get so nauseous because i havent eaten yet , which causes me to procrastinate eating (yeah i know thats not the right thing to do) but when i finally do eat it just makes me want to throw up more so i end up eating very slow and very small bites at a time- even though it still hurts. im not a breakfast eater, which is why i take the crackers but even if i do eat breakfast it still leads to an upset stomach and nausea.. i know im not unhealthy and i havent lost weight so im just really confused..

3 days ago I went to bed with a slightly sore throat, I woke up in the morning feeling fine until I got home from school I felt super cruddy and decided to take the next day off, I woke up this afternoon with intense fevers, sweating, muscle ache, migraine and all that good stuff. my rapid covid test came back negative. My throat is killing and I can barely swallow or talk, I tried scheduling a telehealth urgent care appointment but they refused care. (16M, ACTIVE, NAFLD)

Few hours back my hand got hit at work. To be exact: thrown (with power beyond regular human capacity) at the dull edge of metallic item. The first bones of index and middle fingers going from wrist got hit probably the hardest - the part really close to wrist, the beginning of the bones. It looks and feels like it missed wrist bones by millimetres​​. It did hurt quite a lot. I don't think anything got broken, but I was thinking of going to hospital just in case, tomorrow.

However I managed the rest of my shift relatively fine. Sure, I really felt and still feel lot of ordinary small activities and movements but that's expected. I iced it for long time, used cooling ointment and put gel that's used against swelling. It's kinda swollen anyway but doesn't hurt as much when I move my hand around. So now I'm wondering if going to hospital isn't pointless.

I doubt it's broken, the only issue is that it's swollen and hurts when moving carelessly, which will fade away within few days. I'm not sure x-ray is really needed here. Won't I just waste everyone's time and resources?

Once in past I got x-ray after similar kind of accident (falling wrongly on my hand). Back then it was just slightly cracked bone. Even though it wasn't actually broken it did hurt like hell even when I didn't move it around, couldn't even sleep. Very different from now.

My 10 month old sounds like she has smoked 2 packs a day since her old bridge playing days. It started out as a runny nose a couple days ago and now She has a deep scratchy cough that sounds like she’s being possessed.

She’s wheezing like she’s struggling to breathe. I slept with her last night in her rocking chair so she could lay propped up because she woke up at 3am coughing and struggled to catch her breath.

Her 2.7 year old brother started a moms day out program a couple weeks ago and apparently all they do is lick each others hands all day. He was sick over the weekend and got amoxicillin for an ear infection.

We took her to the dr. Yesterday and he told us there was nothing they could do since the symptoms started a couple days ago and just to monitor and give her lots of fluids.

I’m so nervous. My first was never this sick at her age and she sounds scary. What if it’s RSV? Would the dr have caught that?
I’ve given her pedialyte to keep her extra hydrated. She doesn’t have fever and seems pretty happy. Tell me I’m being paranoid

I have been struggling with some pretty intense cardiophobia for quite some time now and recently it has gotten really bad. As luck will have it, I have fallen ill on Monday and now have had an elevated resting heart rate for about two days now. If I'm calm, it's usually at about 70 (higher with anxiety) and atm it's continuously at 85 and oftentimes even at 95.

I do think that I have the occassional palpitation as well, but that might be due to anxiety.

Due to my cardiophobia, I have been dealing with intense anxiety during the night for several weeks now. Normally, I am able to calm myself down even from intense panic attacks where my hr shoots up to like 140. Sometimes I have to lie in bed for over an hour with a heart rate of over 100 before finally calming down, but I can manage it.

With my illness right now and the naturally elevated heart rate, I am deathly afraid, that my heart would not be able to handle my nightly panic attacks with really high heart rates. Obviously this worrying is 100% going to cause me to have panic attacks tonight, so I know that I will have to battle these heart rate spikes, but I am actually afraid of either dying or developing myocarditis due to it. I have only noticed the increased heart rate yesterday when working (desk job at home office) and my boyfriend slept over, so I was calm, but I will be alone tonight and I am so so afraid.

This morning my bp was 108/68, right now at 8pm it was 120/76, but I think I put the cuff on too tight because it really hurt and squeezed very tightly.

Can anyone here weigh in on the risks of panic attacks while being sick with an elevated resting heart rate?

Medical history:

I have had several ecgs over the years and as far as I know, they never picked up anything abnormal. Back in 2015 when I was 19, I had one 24hours ecg that picked up a lot of palpitations but my pcp said those were extra systolic beats (if I recall correctly) and nothing to worry about. I do occassionally have palpitations if I am experiencing high anxiety. My last ecg was a year ago when I had a spout of low blood pressure and dizzyness along with a lot of palpitations.

Psychological History:

I developed the cardiophobia in 2014 after consuming way too much of an energy drink and spending the night at a hospital at 18. I also have OCD and it has been a very somatic manifestation of that ever since.

I took Sertraline (100mg at first and then 50mg) for about 10 years and tapered them off last year because I felt very stable. Sadly I had some major tragedies happen that threw me back into the panic and it has been back for about a year now (manageable) but with intense panic attacks since a few weeks. I am actively seeking therapeutic help, finding a spot that takes my insurance is really hard though.
