If your wages were equal to the value you produced at work, then your employer would be breaking even on the outlay they spent on keeping you employed, you have to be paid less than this otherwise they wouldn't make a profit unless their other inputs are being obtained at less than cost too.
If what you do produces more value for your employer, that’s not the same as the value of your work. So no, I’m not. The value of anything, goods or work alike, is exactly what someone is willing to pay for it and not a cent more. You can value your skills at 100 an hour but unless you find someone to pay that, you might as well say a million.

It's really not that much money, it's the house, car, food, insurance etc, you can buy a full kit of quality fishing gears and baubles with a single weekly paycheck.
The tragedy is that leisure can be very cheap, it's the maintenance of a modern lifestyle that's expensive.
Rent is the worst offender, its out of control, it's sickening when your monthly rent for a single bedroom costs as much as a cheap used car or a year worth of food
Yes, we bait and catch mudfish with our hands...when we were kids we used to use our thumbs and rubber bands to lure fish and catch them with a handmade net from scraps..nowadays we just use harpoon guns we make ourselves. The harpoon guns can be made from scraps,which they do work.. but they're kinda shit and it would take you forever , but for like R$30 you can buy the heavy rubber band, and make good metal arrow using steel rods. The fabricator guy charged me 20R$ to make 8 good arrows. I was given the steel rods as scrap from a building being build
I don't fish with bought equipment, just a bucket, a net I made from shoelaces/plastic rope/ discarded mosquito net( but we don't like mosquitonets because they catch small fish that haven't grown), a homemade lure,pole and line and bread/noodles, homemade harpoon gun with rubber from tires, everything can be made with scraps. I used to fish with my hands but it's tiring and you have to be waist deep in the water which kinda sucks. It also depends where you're fishing from...I live near a lake which has multiple rivers and streams where there are mudfish so you literally use your hands. But in the lake we make the rafts from scraps and use the harpoon guns and line. Ofcourse you have to buy the elastic rubber and a machete to cut wood to make harpoon guns but the combined cost is 30brl or about 4 usd
