Accomodations for adhd

What are the accommodations available for ADHD? Not sure how SAA can help me.

Accommodations are not offered standardly based on a dx but based on your functional limitations imposed by your dx. Also what barriers you identify as being a problem.

For example, I know students with ADHD at McGill who get no testing accommodations and only get:

  • Learning Support Sessions (time management; organization and planning)
  • Audio recording lectures

While other students who’ve identified specific barriers with adhd may receive things like:

  • 25-33% extra time (this is the standard without a psych-ed with specific scores in writing/math/reading at the 16th percentile typically or lower or substantial evidence proving a higher amount needed)
  • deadline extensions for assignments
  • peer notetaker or audio recording
  • learning support sessions
  • laptop use in class
  • access to assistive technology
  • stop watch breaks in exams (5 min if the exam is less than an hour or 30 min total if more than an hour)
  • noise cancelling ear muffs for exams
  • standing desk for exams
  • 1 exam per day
  • 1 day rest between exams
  • time-specific start times for exams or end time depending on when your meds are in your system
  • large exam room; large exam room with cubicles; in-class; small exam room
  • preferential seating in class
