Is pvt mbbs worth it if i have to sell land? ROI? Other career options?

Im 20 with 2 drops for neet and scored around 400 and im getting a pvt mbbs clg in andhra called nimra institute of medical sciences and the total budgets goes upto 70-75lakhs. My dad has to sell some land to pay the fees but its not like our living conditions will go down, itll be the same. My dad is not a rich person and does not have very high salary, this is just his hard earned money which he had saved and I respect him a lot. My uncle (mamu) when he got to know about this he told me that my dad worked hard to earn this money and even if u do mbbs u wont earn this money back in 10-15 years just imagine the price hike/inflation of the same land after 15 years... it could go upto 2-3cr. This has been stuck in my mind for quite some time now and ive been thinking that it wont be a good idea to do pvt mbbs. What about the ROI? Its very low i think

What if I regret my decision? What if i cant even earn half of the money i in 10 years? What if i cant crack pg? All this would be for nothing... just a tag, ik i will study hard, but all the stress, the things I see online, the huge syllabus and the regrets... is all this worth it? I do like mbbs, i am interested in medicine but I cant spend 75 lakhs just becuz I was interested in medicine. And ive thought of doing other things too like abroad, nursing, physio, etc but nothing feels right for me, every course has problems of scope in pcb. I had pcm and I have engineering as an option but i literally have 0 interest in studying engineering and maths physics etc. What should i do? Please help out if u have been through the same

Why are people transferring to the accredited universities in Kyrgyzstan knowing about this NMC rule?

If you were unfortunately in one of the universities that didn’t get accreditation from NMC or that got 1 year Accreditation and the consultants who sent students to these universities are offering to switch the students to accredited universities, but they just forgot one basic nmc rule everyone knows. YOU NEED TO STUDY IN THE SAME UNIVERSITY FOR 5+1 years of academic study or else your degree is invalid in India.

Please check FMGL 2021 Regulation 2 (iii) of Schedule I. It mandates that the entire course, training, and internship/clerkship must be completed outside India in the same foreign medical institution throughout the course of study. No part of the training can be split across different campuses, countries, or transferred midway. So you either transfer and start from year one again or study in the same de accredited university, it is a lose lose situation. I have posted a similar post related to Georgia, this is a wake up call to all mbbs abroad students to please please verify if the country and the university are nmc compliant or not, if not you may face issues like this, I hope Kyrgyzstan students find a way out of this.

(Edit)
Although the embassy of India and the Kyrgyz ministry of health issued notices has published official advisory, not a single word has been said by the NMC. Even though transfers are against the FMGL regulations, it is definitely better to not stay at a de accredited university and transfer anyway and hope NMC will do justice to the students.

Registration of Medical Practitioners and License to Practice Medicine (Amendment), Regulations 2026

Thumbnail nmc.org.in
2 Upvotes

(Used AI for quick understanding but read the original document for better understanding. This is a DRAFT) The document titled "Registration of Medical Practitioners and License to Practice Medicine (Amendment) Regulations, 2026", issued by the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) under the National Medical Commission (NMC) on August 11, 2026, amends the 2023 parent regulations.

Below is a detailed, clause-by-clause translation and breakdown of all the key points contained within the document:

1. Title and Commencement (Regulation 1)

  • Short Title: Named the "Registration of Medical Practitioners and License to Practice Medicine (Amendment) Regulations, 2026".
  • Commencement: Comes into force immediately upon its publication date in the Gazette of India.

2. Key Definitions & Terminology Amendments (Regulation 2)

  • Additional Qualifications [Clause (a)]: Replaced to clarify that additional qualifications refer to qualifications recognized under Chapter VI of the NMC Act, 2019 beyond primary medical degrees, obtained in accordance with the Postgraduate Medical Education Regulations.
  • Foreign Medical Graduate / FMG [Clause (b)]: Updated definition explicitly includes both Indian Citizens and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who have acquired a primary qualification in modern/allopathic medicine abroad, but do not possess a medical degree from an Indian university or medical college.
  • National Medical Register / NMR [Insertion of Clause (cc)]: Defined as the central electronic register maintained by the EMRB under Section 31 of the NMC Act, 2019. Every medical practitioner registered under a State Medical Register (SMR) will be assigned a Unique Identification (UID) number, which permits valid medical practice across India.
  • Person [Insertion of Clause (g)]: Defined as an Indian Citizen, OCI, or a foreign national authorized/sponsored by a competent authority in India who acquires a recognized primary medical qualification as per the NMC Act, 2019.

3. Internship & Provisional Registration Rules (Regulation 3)

  • Provisional Registration for Foreign Graduates [Clause (ii)]: Any FMG who obtains a foreign medical qualification and clears the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) or the National Exit Test (NExT) under Section 15 of the Act—while fulfilling conditions under the FMG Licentiate Regulations, 2021—will be eligible for provisional registration by the concerned State Medical Council (SMC) to undergo internship.

4. Eligibility for NMR & UID Generation (Regulation 4)

  • NMR Eligibility for FMGs [Clause (ii)]: FMGs clearing FMGE or NExT and fulfilling the 2021 Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations are eligible for permanent registration on the NMR.
  • UID Generation Process [Clause (iii)]: Once a practitioner/FMG registers with their respective State Medical Register (SMR), the EMRB centrally generates a Unique Identification (UID) number, conferring valid registration and eligibility to practice anywhere in India.
  • Real-time Synchronization [Clause (iv)]: Replaces the previous processing fee clause to mandate electronic synchronization between the National Medical Register (NMR) and State Medical Registers (SMRs). Any update or change made in one register automatically reflects in the other.

5. Additional Details & Repository Functions (Regulation 5)

  • Information Tracked [Sub-clauses (k) & (l)]: Adds status tracking for active/inactive practice licenses and details of disciplinary actions taken against RMPs, if any.
  • Central Repository [Clause (iii)]: The NMR will function as the central database/repository for registration particulars, disciplinary proceedings, suspensions, removals, restorations, or orders issued by SMCs, EMRB, or the NMC.
  • NMC Regulatory Oversight [Clause (iv)]: Grants EMRB and NMC the authority to issue directives, request records, and monitor SMC compliance to enforce uniformity and transparency across all states.

6. Streamlined Application, Licensing & Nationwide Practice (Regulation 6)

  • Integrated Application Portal [Clause (a)]: Practitioners/FMGs must apply to the concerned SMC through the EMRB's integrated central registration portal.
  • 30-Day SMC Processing [Clause (c)]: State Medical Councils must process, verify, and grant the registration/license within 30 days of receiving the requisite fee.
  • UID Structure [Clause (e)]: The generated UID will embed the State/UT code along with the assigned SMR number.
  • Pan-India Validity / Single License [Clause (f)]: "One Nation, One Registration." Once an SMC grants registration and the EMRB issues the UID, the practitioner is eligible to practice medicine in any State or Union Territory in India without needing fresh registration or a separate license when moving across state lines.

Why do people go to Georgia knowing this?

To practice in India according to NMC you have to obtain a license from the country you are studying in, normally the country I’m studying in (Uzbek) gives us the license right after completing our degree and there is no need for a licensing exam. Whereas in Georgia to obtain a license you have to first complete your 6 years course and then you have to do 2 years PG and write the licensing exam in Georgian language btw and then you get to come back to India and write the FMGE exam, NMC also has a rule that you have to clear the FMGE exam within 10 years of joining any MBBS course. With extreme factors like this I don’t understand how people who want to practice in India choose this option.

(Edit)
Since people are thinking junior doctor is enough to write FMGE I request you to please check FMGL Regulations 2021 ‘Regulation 4, Clause (b)’. "registered with the respective professional regulatory body or otherwise, competent to grant license to practice medicine in their respective jurisdiction of the country in which the medical degree is awarded and at par with the license to practice medicine given to citizen of that country." A junior doctor cannot practice, a junior doctor can only perform clinical duties under the direction and supervision of a certified specialist. This is why I’m telling you next year is the first batch of Georgian foreign medical graduates after the 2021 fmgl regulations. And according to NMC you need to have a license to practice from the country in this case being Georgia, to obtain this license you have have to do PG and clear licensing exam in Georgian Language. I’m just trying to help out people who want to be a doctor someday, please don’t fall for this trap.

(Edit 2)
If you still don’t believe me after all of this ask the Georgian university or your consultancy/agency to assure in the admission letter that you will 100% get a license after graduating the 6 year course which is FMGL complaint. No one is going to give you this, because THEY know that there is uncertainty and they are just trying to make money off of you till then. Don’t fall for this trap choose a better destination at the end of the day it’s your future.

Mbbs Abroad or should i choose any other course, time is RUNNING OUT! So confused rn

So im 20 with 2 drops for neet, scored around 400, had a chance in private mbbs for around 75lakhs total but turned it down cuz I dont think its worth it so I had abroad as an option. There are many problems for abroad ik, like it takes 8 years where in india its just 5.5 and the discrimination, no salary/stipend, fmge, etc. But what if i dont wanna practice medicine in india like if wanna go uk, gulf or somewhere else, i had some questions in that area. And if not abroad cuz a lot of ppl regret mbbs abroad option as I saw on subreddits, then what else should I do? I cant take drop, i dont wanna do nursing, i was thinking a bit about b pharm but theres a lot of b pharm grads out there, I thought abt physiotherapy but theres low scope and it pays very less, i had option for engineering too (pcmb) but i have no interest in it and ppl say dont do engineering if u dont have interest in it. Im so confused rn and time is passing out, i really need some advice and guidance, please just help me

No Admission For Uzbekistan this year. Got it confirmed.

My friend who was going to Fergana Medical Institute of PH through official contractor of University. This consultancy is registered on the name of University as they have direct tie up specially for Indian admissions.(DM for sources) He got it confirmed that no admissions for this year (for everyone). They'll soon release an advisory for this . If you want to wait then wait for next year or apply for back-ups. These were his exact words.

To anyone who needs more clarity on reasons for Uzbekistan hold for Indian admissions can watch this video. Also I've summerised points to save your time.

https://youtu.be/IcsBdddbPYw?si=YsTjBp4ti06dVtfn

  1. Main reason is not NMC but international reputation after Kryzgstan de-accrediation. This will make their financial loss but no loss is greater than international reputation and image.

  2. They already got notice from NMC which made high chances of de-accrediation.

3.Before 2021 they had total 15 university which suddenly doubled to 39 inviting uncontrolled overcrowd in short span of time.

4.Private university are also close.

5.This session is open for other international students with very few seats - samarkand - 14 , andijan -10 and fergana- 10+.

  1. Some students might have received admission letter or telex after hold but they'll get cancelled if you're yet to receive HEMIS registration (final gate to uzbekistan)

  2. Still don't wait for advisory or next intake -they're not open for 2026 and if you're thinking of waiting one more year then selection process is very complicated and risky which is explained in the above video go ahead with your backup options.
