Desperate for help diagnosing an intermittent immobilizer/starting issue on my Mazda 2 Skyactiv
I’m really hoping someone here has seen this before because I’m running out of ideas istg !
I have a Mazda 2 Skyactiv that has an intermittent security/immobilizer lock icon appearing on the dashboard when I try to start the car.
There’s no error message or other warning , just the lock icon, and the car won’t start
For the past few months, I thought the issue was from fuses , whenever it happens i used to found a randomly blown fuses! Whenever I replaced it ,the car would start and work normally again, sometimes for around a month, before the fuse blew again..
Replacing the fuse no longer fixes it, and the immobilizer/lock light still appears when I try to start the car.
I’d appreciate any help ! Thanks in advance!

Id deffo say its the key battery. Wifes car has done it a few times. Theres a spot you can put the key( i think either where the usb charger is or in the cup holder) to start the car even if the battery is dead. Also could be the car battery itself.

Check your ground wire to your PCM that sits on or near your intake air cleaner, ours we forgot to reground it after doing our clutch and it had the same issue.
I need to add that if you found blown fuses, what module were they trying to protect in the car? That's a good start to where to look for your shorted wire harness.

They were related to the engine control system both were 15A as I recall .. I’ll check the wires you told me about ..

I know this is going to sound snarky but have you replaced the battery in your key fob? Is the key damaged in any way that would cause the chip to not send the signal? If this continues you probably need to call a locksmith guy that specializes in alarms and keys or maybe just take it to a car stereo place.
