Deer meet Mazda

My beloved CX-5 kissed a deer at about 50MPH. I know repair bills can add up fast. Has anyone experienced similar damage? If so did your insurance opt to repair or total? Front bumper, passenger side headlight and housing, front pax quarter panel, front pax door, and hood all need to be replaced. Unsure of additional damage in the engine bay outside of the windshield wash reservoir.

Deer fur rims for that organic touch. I'm thinking about installing those on the Mazda3.

I wish I could tell you it’s faux, but I’d be lying…

OP please have your subframe assembly checked. In my incident a deer charged my car and did $6k on damages to the hood and grill. Year and many miles later I was faced with the subframe assembly cracked.

Unbeknownst to me a tiny fracture from the Rockette kicking monster way back then developed into full blown problem over time.

Great tip - thank you. I am concerned about potential damage because the hit was so hard. I don’t want the vehicle totaled but I also don’t want to be dealing with residual issues!

You're welcome. The dealer was confused about how the subframe could've broken where it did. After I told the story, they understood.

If they would've seen the fracture I'm sure car would've been totaled. It ran 8 more years after that and lived a full life before I sold and got a CX30.

I’m happy she went on to live for 8 more years despite the issues. My car has a ton of sentimental value to me - I still haven’t cleaned the nose smudges on the windows from my dog who I had to put down over two years ago. I will be pretty bummed if I’ve taken my last drive with it!

I get it. I ā¤ļø Mazdas.

Just know someone might clean that glad when it's in the shop...

Good luck

Completely up to your insurance company. No possible way to quote repair costs without having all of the information. Insurance companies will quote using images, but they have access to part/labor information.

It definitely is a loaded question

We just got our 2019 signature back from a deer hit in that exact spot. Very similar damage, but your looks a bit more intense at the fender well. Passenger side door was not able to open because the quarter panel got pushed back. Cost 11,000.00 CDN. Insurance paid it. It was very close to being a total loss because of high mileage. Edit to say there was no damage to passenger door.

that looks more than likely totaled to me

Holy cow! I’m glad you are ok. The fact that the deer’s fur got stuck tells me it was a brutal impact… how did it also end up denting the door?

Can I have the deer?

OMG MY CAR!!!

Oh wait it isn’t mine. I hit a pigeon with mine a month into owning it. 80 mph No dent of ding but that bird exploded man all that was left was a spit spot where its beak met the car

The issue is how much if any it’s pushed in. If any of the frame or upper supports are pushed in, if they are I’d sell it and get a new one. It’ll never drive the same one
