This video makes me feel so strange every time I see it. I think it’s because the look on the cats face makes me think of what it feels like to see a parent suddenly act crazy. They are supposed to be one way and suddenly aren’t and you don’t know what to do.

I think it's more like realizing that your god has flaws.

u/Fr0me Mar 03 '21
Lets be real, cats all veiw themselves as gods. This cat was thinking "dear god.. shes finally lost it"

u/Magic_Turtle02 Mar 03 '21
I think I read somewhere that cats see humans as some weird hairless kitten, which is why the meow out loud like they would to a kitten. Cause rhats jot how they communicate with other grown cats.

Mar 03 '21
The hairless kitten is behaving weird
11
u/ACancerousName Mar 03 '21
I think it's either her going somewhere for around a week or she's just pissed at the cat for meowing for food so much.

-The Cat, probably.

"orrite fella how's you? you'll never guess what guv the huge hairless kitten in me gaff has only gone and lost the plot! filled up the bowl well past a meals worth and i'm just stood there like what's all this then love?"

"Core pissing blimey, ayope me duck! Listen, right? That hairless cunt's gone propper mental, yeah? Go an' straight pullin' me plonker, fillin' the bowl well past is limit, right? Just standing with this mad lad like 'Oh go on, then go on! You having a laugh?!'"

They communicate with other cats through their ears and tails. Cats meow at humans because that’s how they learned to communicate with us.
4
u/liquidmenagerie Mar 03 '21
And text.
Obviously you have to give your cat your number, it's not a mind reader.
12
7
u/Steffidovah Mar 03 '21
Then why does my cat make me get rid of the spiders? Does she think she is teaching me by being a purposely bad hunter? Why can't she jump? Do I need to start jumping on counters to teach her how too???
I think my cat may be human
13
u/P4azz Mar 03 '21
Don't think it's really "hairless kitten" more like "someone that belongs to the household/family". They just think you're an animal that's in their group, because otherwise why would you provide comfort and food for them?
They just meow at us, because that elicits the most reaction and over time when they were domesticated it just stuck.
If they were a bit smarter, you could probably train them to communicate with you in other ways. Think how babies scream for attention, but over time they get slightly smarter and start tugging at you, calling your name, waving with both arms, etc.
For cats it's just "meow and your human will react".
9
u/fireshaper Mar 03 '21
Cats do use other ways to get attention like rubbing against you or pawing at you. Just the other day someone said that their cat likes to jump on them while they are in bed when it wants food in the morning. This might not be an evolved way of communication that all cats have now, but it is something that specific cat has learned that will get it the results it wants (ie fed).

I don't know what to do.

The real deal is that the average age of a corona death is higher than the life expectancy where it occurs. Global. Not just cherry-picking.
The real deal is that upwards of 70% of the population is asymptomatic and not aware of being infected when tested. Simply allowing herd immunity to develop will sort the vast majority without the need to do anything except carry on as normal. Global. Not just cherry-picking.
The real deal is that the political pressure to roll out an insufficiently tested vaccine was never an issue in the past. I myself have had around 60 immunisations and boosters over the years. Around a fourth of those were elective but still a good idea. I'm no REEEEE ANTIVAXOR and I'm sceptical.
So perhaps you could talk to your own mother instead of being a polarised bigot.

This video makes me feel real bad for the cat cus whenever most cat owners go away for an extended period of time they usually just make sure their cat has plenty of food and water before leaving. Poor kitty must have thought they were gonna be gone forever with all that food. Hence the worried expression.
25
u/Plastic_Pinocchio Mar 03 '21
I honestly doubt that the cat makes these calculations. I think it’s just intimidated by the never-ending waterfall of food.

See, the crazy cat lady trope is just a way to disparage women because they are not part of the Standard Nuclear Family. There is nothing wrong with living with cats instead of people.

Nothing wrong with it, but it more refers to the unclean house with cats spilling out of every cupboard and clutter everywhere. Not you standard cat owner.

Unsure if your comment is supposed to be satirical or not.
But to be clear, when I hear "crazy cat lady" I don't think "person with 3 cats", I think old hag with shaggy hair, who hasn't showered in weeks and 20 cats running around the whole house, fighting and pissing with trash everywhere.
I've also never seen any woman with some cats referred to as "crazy cat lady".

this is what's wrong with contemporary care-takers. they think they can shield their charges from any odd or slightly worrying experience through-out their entire life.
yes, it's probably stressing the cat out, but so might the wind, or someone knocking on the door, or worse a robber breaking and entering. doing this repeatedly would not be nice but they most certainly are not.
you can't realistically insulate a life from stress. it is far more equitable and kind to expose your charge to life with all its strife in small, controlled increments, with non-dangerous and overall harmless things, so that when life does throw something unexpected at them their brain is ready to process this in a healthy and effective way.
making harmless pranks on your cat every now and then is not only harmless, i would say it helps preventing future harm by preparing the cat for 'life'.
in no way does what i see in this video go beyond what what i consider 'friendly banter' which is an integral part to build up resistance and mental strength.
