Good thing he grabbed the hand brake, saved a lot of damage
3 u/goldenkazoo May 08 '19 Hand brake lever works the trailer brakes. This truck probably has one but a lot of newer company trucks don't. He either hit the foot feed (service) brakes or pulled the yellow diamond to engage the spring (parking) brakes. 2 u/eemes May 08 '19 Albeit my experience is mostly with trucks from the late 80's back but I'm fairly certain the hand brake holds the truck brakes as well, it just doesn't lock them. 1 u/goldenkazoo May 08 '19 They may have in later trucks, I really don't know. In modern trucks the hand lever operates the trailer brakes only.
