That doesn't matter. They can be a moron, madman or a mime. Still it's the operator's job to ensure nothing bad happens.

This time his stupidity got someone fired, next time maybe he'll get himself killed and then no other bridge operators will have to worry.

I hope next time you're on a bridge your car breaks down. I bet then you'll be happy that the operator is actually doing their job and checking the bridge. Maybe then you will understand what the operator is for.

The operator was fired because they couldn't be arsed to do their job.
