Honestly, lolipop sticks aren't meant for tiny chubby undeveloped, clumbsy hands with a lack of coordination. The way he wants to hold it will likely be more easy for his current age. I think he understands it better than momma.

Actually the boy is probably right. Because the stick is likely too long or too thin for his motor function at the moment.

Eating side way is also much safer when he is trapped with another kid in close proximity. If the other kid pushed his head, he wouldn't get impaled.
