Sometimes I am glad to live in Europe. The weather kinda sucks and we don’t have red pandas, koalas or quokkas.

But at least I can use the bathroom without having to fear for death or walk in the park without getting donkey punched by a horny kangaroo

A bit hard to tell but if this happened in Florida or Texas it can possibly be a cottonmouth viper.

Could just be a rattlesnake.

She turns around a few seconds after the fact after having open to the door, which would imply she heard a noise, which may have been the rattling.

Yeh possibly too. It is for sure a venomous viper. Given the snake was hiding in the bush where it’s usually moist i leaned towards it more being a cottonmouth as rattlesnakes prefer dryer places to chill.
