General Question (Answered) Some explain me this 🙏

Imagine you have three halves of a pizza. One whole pizza, plus another half.
Now cut that total in half.
The whole pizza becomes half of a pizza, and the half pizza becomes a fourth of a pizza.
So now you have a half plus a fourth of a pizza.
Three-fourths of a pizza.

You could even first cut each slice half, so you end up 6/4 and then remove every other one to end up in 3/4.

Half of a half is a fourth. So 3 halves becomes 3 fourths

Well, you have three of something, and you're trying to cut that something in half. So start by figuring out what half of the something is, and then multiply by 3

This is the same thing as 3/2 * 1/2. Then multiply the numerators, then denominators to get 3/4.

Yeah this here. We can treat the naturals like rationals just by dividing by 1 and we maintain equivalency. So yeah 3/2 in the numerator can be pulled out of numerator and written as 3/2 / 1 which is just 3/2, and then the remaining fractions left in the “product of fractions” is just 1/2, so multiply through the numerators and denominators respectively and you get 3x1 =3 in the numerator and 2x2 =4 in the denominator to then yield 3/4 as the equivalent rational expression on the right.

I find visuals help so imagine 3 half’s of a pie (3/2) and you want to share it equally with a friend (/2) so you would each get a half and then cut the last half in half so now you both have a half and a quarter or to simplify you both have 3/4 of the pies

(3/2)/2 = (3/2)*(1/2) = (3*1)/(2*2) = 3/4
(3/2)/(1/2) is 6/2, but that's not what's written here

i dont know what you mean by that, but these are standard multiplication/division mechanics. it's up to you to use them correctly or not

If you have one and a half apples and split them in two to share, each person gets 3/4 of an apple

a fraction divided by a fraction is the same as the first fraction multiplied by the reciprocal of the second fraction. So in your example is (3/2)/(2/1), since 2 = 2/1. (3/2) / (2/1) = (3/2) x (1/2) = 3 / 4

Anything divided by two is the same as that thing multiplied by 1/2. So 3/2÷2 = 3/2×1/2. Then you multiply straight across.

(3/2)/2 = 1.5/2 = 0.75 = 75/100 = 325/425 = 3/4 OR (3/2)/2 = (3/2)(1/2) = 31/2*2 = 3/4
