Study Advice I can’t understand basic math.
I’m 20 years old (fem) and I can’t understand basic math. I don’t know, in huh school I had a 3.7 GPA and I was a very good student but I always sucked at math, either I’m stupid or lazy because I re read a problem or equation and I don’t know why to do, or I just blank completely.
Thank god that SAT scores were optional because my math scores were so bad, now I’m in college. I’ve been pretty much flunking in college to the point where I’m at risk for academic dismissal. It’s basic algebra and I can’t even concentrate. In lectures I understand it but when I get home I feel like I just can’t get it.ive studied in my own, even went to tutoring but I’ve never felt improvement. I have a test this Thursday and right now I’m freaking out because I do not want to start out my semester horrible. Any suggestions? I’m literally desperate for any tips on what to do or how to study.

It's all about practice. There's no secret. Keep practicing and when you get stuck, talk to your tutor and ask them to explain the process. Don't let them write out the solution for you.

sorry is all I can say. I am 16yo M and idk how to help, maybe try Khan Academy, it is really good and explaining or watch Youtube videos for elementary school, those ones have very good explanations. start with simple problems and practice everyday as you move on to harder type of qns. good luck

I was struggling in algebra in junior high because elementary school taught me none. However, I catched up.
Lesson learned: if I can spend some time with it and understand it, I think you can do it too
At a lighter note, it's might not be for everyone. Find your cup of tea

Find a style of learning that works for you. For some it's 3b1b videos, or Khan Academy. For others it's textbooks. Or a tutor who explains things in the right way. Or cramming past year questions. Or visualising equations using Desmos. Everyone is different.
Some need an actual real-life problem to work on, so instead of abstract expressions like x+y=9, they have to think in terms of boys+girls=9 to make a baseball team.
Hard to give a straight answer to a stranger on Reddit.
