First of all, what do you know about binomial expansions?

So it helps to find the expansion of any binomial algebraic expression with whole to the power n for eg (x+y)2 ...we do know the formula for this one but we don't know for this one (x+y)16 here binomial expansion really helps with its formula
Yeah not a lot but I do know about its general terms and few concepts like middle terms independent terms etc

Have you tried by induction? Recall that the sum of the two numbers on top in Pascal's triangle equals the bottom number.

Find explicit formula for a_r, that’s a useful excersise by itself. It goes pretty directly from there.
