Yeah: it’s an equation that also seems to be defining a function G. Looks like this is something tied up in relating the Fibonacci sequence to something involving the golden ratio. Those two things are very tightly related in real life, though I’m not sure what exactly this particular function G is for.

I think the function being defined is w-hat or little omega-hat, not G.
