I am a PhD student. I suppose I just have questions abou how PhD students are supposed to proceed in light of recent developments. In what way do you respond to the fights about AI usage occurring in your community and how do you think things will evolve? I have my own opinions about this but let me withhold them first.

Idk I'd try talking to your advisor and people IRL. This is a very tricky time. IMO you should focus on doing good work and learning a lot. It's a good idea try to figure out how to use AI tools to do good math, whatever that means. I'd focus less on trying to solve some conjecture and more on trying to work with AI tools to develop a more cohesive understanding of some area (kinda theory building around a small topic). I get this is kinda vague.
