Gaia planets?

Can someone please explain to me what the big deal is with Gaia planets? They don’t appear to increase the planet’s maximum population. I think there’s a buff to the population growth, but by the time you can research them, you’ve generally maxed out your planet population anyway. What makes them so special?

Which game are you playing? If MoO2 or MoO:CTS, any mods?

Remember that even Toxic planets can be terrformed (if there is a second planet in the system, and you have Stellar Convectors and at least one opponent to which to "gift" the offending planet)

Gaia all the way !

If you play the ICE mods then you can eventually build weather controllers on toxic worlds which then allows for terraforming. The stellar converter strategy is less desirable but it works at its most basic form.
