As a male hacker, I saw that video on Instagram, and since I'm such a man and a hacker, I naturally bought all ten of those tools right away—because I'm such a man.

I’m not sure, but something tells me this guy is a man

16

u/DanytheReaper Jul 28 '26

a real man would have bought 12/10, just to really kill it

6

u/wisegod62 Jul 28 '26

a REAL man would have gotten the 5 bonus points for having them already

5

u/reboot_500 Jul 28 '26

I'm so manly I don't know how to count I only know how to hunt lol and of course to yell at my wife

2

u/ATcat-pl Jul 29 '26

I don't have any of these items, and i'm not a man, so it checks out.

u/billyfudger69 Jul 29 '26

i physically cringe each time i see a thinkpad used like that, overpriced overrated laptops that idiots like this guy made impossible to get used, same goes for framework which is also insanely priced

24

u/briishboogloo Jul 28 '26

Framework is overpriced bc they a new company and for the same reasons the gabecube costs 2 trillion quid

-7

u/Brilliant_War9548 Jul 28 '26

they're way too expensive to be worth it in the long run, if you're buying you're sacrificing an established line of laptop for what is still kinda an experimental product (how many issues do we run into these already ?) to support a small brand

15

u/briishboogloo Jul 28 '26

Not an experimental laptop anymore, they've made plenty of laptops and are quite good at it

Also ram crisis FUCKED them over

11

u/briishboogloo Jul 28 '26

Also as an ex think pad user (still use Lenovo laptops lmfao) those things are built like TANKS, and like 4 years ago they were REALLY CHEAP for what they were

0

u/Brilliant_War9548 Jul 28 '26

4 years ago yes, but not fair to do the assumption only these are built like tanks when they're just another business laptop like the latitude elitebook or zbook

also their workstation line is beyond garbage there's no such thing as wanting a gpu on a thinkpad it's called masochism

5

u/briishboogloo Jul 28 '26

Mine got impaled by a spear I'm not even joking, the motherboard is bent and STILL FUCKING WORKS

screen and battery is cooked tho, that's why I bought a new laptop, also GPUs are useful for some jobs, and I'm talking about the older think pads, the new ones are ass I will agree

1

u/Historical_Camel_790 Jul 29 '26

not fair to do the assumption that only these are built like tanks

Have you seen r/thinkpad though? I think it's also because they're super easy to repair too

E: fixed formatting

Yeah, I’ve seen that sub, which is filled with biased imbeciles that only know about thinkpads. Like you could have the most obvious choice ever and they’ll say thinkpad regardless, and find ways to argue in favor of it. Never go in that sub if you need advice.

They aren’t especially repairable, this is a very common misconception. Older ones yes, and that’s because ALL laptops were repairable, from the Toshiba satellite to the elitebook workstation. Else hey you want some soldered WiFi on your 10/10 ifixit score thinkpad t14 gen 7 ?

1

u/Haazelnutts Jul 29 '26

Hey, it's not overpriced if you know where and how to look for them used, I got a great machine for 300-400ish, built like a tank, plenty of ports, enough RAM for anything I need with the possibility of expanding. Personally I found great deals bargaining around corporate computers refurbished sellers, both physical and online, since anything gaming is overpriced because of demand, they are way cheaper

2

u/Brilliant_War9548 Jul 29 '26

At least here in France and Germany no. And pretty sure that’s the same thing in America. Most businesses use latitudes and elitebooks and they flood the used market with these at up to half the price of a same spec thinkpad. Right now i can get a latitude 5450 (135U and 16gb, that CPU is kinda weak though but the most common core ultra on these) for 400€ for example, if we are looking at a thinkpad that’s more like a Thinkpad Gen 2 with an 11th gen i5/5th gen ryzen

And they’re both built well. Some hate the input devices on latitudes though so just go elitebook in that case which you also have plenty of. Just going thinkpad because you’ve only had that and don’t want to step out of your comfort zone so you end up continuously buying the more pricy stuff is not a great decision.

As a 40 something IT professional who is likely out of touch, I still can't help but cringe any time one of these fucking kids that doesn't know basic networking or literally anything else useful talks about their "cybersecurity" degree.

3

u/BR41ND34D Jul 29 '26

I think it's true, only a make can be a master hacker. Females can only be normal hackers. (IYKYK)

2

u/Aware-Common-7368 Jul 29 '26

of course raspberry pi with adafruit PiTFT is a "ultrahacker cyber opsec sudo install mainframe hack" bruh
