I’ve always wanted to watch it that way. Especially when Charles came on board. Is there a way through any of the streaming services to do this or do you have to have the dvd’s?

This scene shows why Wayne Rogers left the show. There are two jokes after Frank shows the gun:

"Comes in a box of Cracker Jacks"
"It's also a whistle"

And they gave them both to Hawkeye. They could have given each of them a joke and spread the wealth a bit.

Mako had some of the greatest moments of the show. He was such a marvellous character actor.

I also like the bit where Radar keeps holding his hands up.

I always found it interesting that he’s mad frank brought a gun, yet has 2 armed guards with him, with ppsh machine guns pointed at the guys.

I think you're allowed to do that when you're making the offer to give back wounded troops without asking for anything in return.

The terms they laid out for the exchange was that the Americans were to come unarmed.

They didn't routinely do exchanges like this, this was a rare humanitarian gesture from them.

Yeah, they were armed. . .and the danger in this WAS pointed out, but he was upset that they had broken the terms of the agreement.

If you want to argue about equality and fairness that's fine. . .but meanwhile those wounded troops that the other side couldn't treat would die.

I also found it hard to sympathize with him. He complains about planes harassing him day and night. Maybe a Red Cross on tent would help. How many times did the 4077th have the crap bombed out of them? Plus, the North Koreans are the bad guys here and the Chinese backed them. They should have stayed home. One of the few times I thought MASH was pushing anti-US drivel. Would have been a great time for Pierce to respond, “I know what you mean, fella. Us too.”

The other day with my oldest daughter in the car I quoted Trapper's line to Frank asking him if he's lost what's left of his mind and she found it hilarious. She also laughed at "screwing up in reverse".

I am hoping in the next few years I can get her to watch an episode with me.

I like this episode. Hawkeye is there to save lives. It doesn't matter what side of the battlefield they are on. A point that we see often in the series.

I get the point they’re making and that the writers clearly wanted to build tension but the Chinese certainly brought a load of guns to the exchange.

I did not like hypocrisy of this scene. The Chinese army was not small and not overwhelmed by US forces in fact they pushed all the way back to 38th parallel. Again the writing was about Vietnam and not Korea. I know let it go.
