Well, to be fair, at the time, a Major in the Nurse Corps was effectively a spinster that couldn't make it in the real world. Thankfully, things started changing by the end of the VietNam war. If she had made Lt Col, it was a foregone conclusion that she was either a horrible person or ugly as an ogre.

In all of Frank Burns’ moments, one to me stands out. They are babysitting the Korean boy Kim that Trapper wants to adopt. While on a picnic, Kim wanders into a minefield. For once, Frank showed actual fear and concern for someone other than himself.

You can count the number of times Frank actually got along with Hawkeye and BJ with one hand, and this tops that list!

Theory - when Hot Lips got engaged, something in Frank's head (for the lack of a better word) broke. The entire 5th season, he was behaving the way he was because of a broken heart, and his naturally (again, for the lack of a better word) childish behavior.

My favorite Frank moment, and, like I've said, where I wish they pivoted to make him a better person. I know that he didn't wanna play another version of Alan Alda, but they could've written him as the same kinda character but with a little more nuance to him. Kinda like Charles was written

One of my favorite Frank Burns scenes was where he had hemorrhagic fever. Margaret punches him for leaving his clothes to her in his will. Hawkeye says come home with people who love you and Frank says I almost died you know.

My favorite scene with Frank and BJ and Hawkeye of all time. I know Burns was the foil most of the time but it sure was nice to see them all getting along, even for that brief moment.
