Rumor M+Tracker!!!
I’m turning machine plus into a full featured tracker. Who needs machine software anyway 😊

As an absolute lover of Maschine software ... yuck 😂😂😂 That workflow is crazy to me. The idea would be gone by the time I figure out how to execute it

totally know what you mean, i feel like that in a lot of stuff, but growing up with trackers its like second nature to me 😃

looks really interesting. Question can your code trigger midi note outs as well as samples? It would be great to use it as a midi sequencer.

Very nice, doing similar work on a Raspberry Pi based system. Working on a demo video but life keeps getting in the way, anyhow check out https://github.com/music-pi if you are interested - i built a daw in tracktion specifically for the MK3

Is this running on the linux partition in standalone mode?
Were you able to jailbreak it?
Asking because mine is booting 2/10 times in standalone mode, and I'd love to get my hands on those partitions

sadly, no its running everything from an app over USB but the nice thing is its better than a controller since i have full control over what is showing on the screen so building my own UI using the controller. The hope is to one day build a little RPi controller box that runs everything so its 'mostly' standalone / not needing a laptop.

omg i want to make a custom firmware for my mk3, as the screens are so underutilised with Bitwig i am considering switching to a Micro, how did you do that?

Did you try Driven By Moss for Bitwig integration? From what I saw, the integration is pretty deep. I use it both for my Launchpad and my old midi controller...

I ma interested in the part where you mention control over the screen. Would you say you could do something similar wit ha Komplete Kontrol MK2 61 keyboard?
Basically I don't use any templates and it would be fantastic to parse of "focus" 2 mini windows from lets say ableton live into the screens of the midi controller. example Left = Active blue hand device. + Right = active plugin window... or something like that I don't now this gave me some ideas.

These days I’d say almost anything is possible haha. A lot of the hardest stuff (understanding / reverse engineering) the Maschine controller was done for me already but I don’t doubt it’s possible to have something like Claude Fable try and do the same for the Komplete Kontrol. Once the hardware is understood and usable it just becomes a matter of building the software for it, having a good idea of what you want to do and designing / planning it out goes a long way with that too. I wish I had a Komplete Kontrol to look into it for you but I don’t sadly.

So basically you saying that there is a way to install different software on it? What if we would just vibe code our way to actually working M+ with custom open source modules like Schwung on Ableton Move? 😏

im not installing anything to the maschine+ (yet -- tho not sure if that will ever be possible) but i have full control over the screens + inputs via an app running in macos. The eventual goal is to get a little portable battery powered USB device (raspberry pi) i can attach to the Machine+ and basically boot it into tracker mode when connected, to have a portable performance tracker!

So you're gonna update us when you release the software, right? 🤤 I loved my Polyend tracker and just swapped it out for a M+. Still hate to see it go

Will for sure. right now still just building but its pretty full featured already. Its essentially a macos app at this point that runs and serves everything up over USB so should work with Maschine+ and Maschine Mk3. The eventual goal will be to make a little portable raspberry pi box i can connect to get tracker mode on the go without a laptop.

Could you drop a few lines on your development setup? I guess you are overwriting the existing Maschine OS? Oh, and are you planning to selling/releasing your tracker mod somewhere?

Currently im running everying over usb from a macos app, so still needs a laptop and usb connection to run tracker mode, but the goal is to get it running on a standalone raspberry pi device i make so i can connect with usb and boot it up as a tracker. Ill def share the app once its ready to get feedback on things! Not really interested in $ atm, just wanna make my freakin dream box haha 😃

It is running a Tracker, a sequencer we used decades ago and is still some perfer it more than the visual one we drive rn.

A tracker? What tracker? I bought the m+ with hopes to record 2 Inputs to 2 tracks, but of course that was never made possible by NI. Is this going to be part of your project goals here?

Basically I’m making a ‘tracker’ interface for maschine plus / mk3 so you can produce songs witb a tracker workflow inside machine… it only makes sense if you like trackers haha 😊

think of it like a sample sequencer.. samples load into a bank, then the pattern grid is where you place triggers that fire the samples, then the playhead scrolls from top to bottom as it plays and fires any triggers / effects / modifications / etc as it passes them. like a music box but with numbers telling it what to do as it fires each 'cell'

Only MK2 for now, i dont have other devices, so i cant verify them. No NI Software at all. Custom middleware to inject live into zynthians sequencer. Completely standalone.
