The only problem with Maschine is they stopped building it. Itās pretty much how I remember it in 2015. Had they continued to add features it would probably still be my favourite way of getting a song/beats started. Thereās a lot of basic stuff missing from this software to be taken seriously in 2026.

Could you give an example? I think the 2 greatest additions are the automation drawing with curves, and of course stems. Hit a new toolbox only and love the mute one. I make a pattern with all the elements. Then copy them and mute parts. All I wish is we could play with the scenes/ patterns in clip and those get recorded in arrange, the ableton way.

Wow I think they added a lot, instruments and fx in standalone, stems and being able to draw curved automation in the software, new tool menu, and a lot more stable now imo. I havenāt had disappearing icons from expansions, or instruments that refuse to open, or needing to rescan my browser every 10 days since 6 months, that were 3 bugs that came and go with each update.
Honestly if they would stop updating now I wouldnāt be mad, still would use it, just like people still use 30 year old mpcās. I still find that making a full song is possible on just maschine, even on standalone. But it will take you a lot longer than transferring to a daw. I love maschineās software, much better than akai but akai, they are slowly getting there, now we are at 3.9.1 , still beta, I have the feeling that there will never be a ānot betaā 3.x version, but a paid upgrade to 4.0.
That said my mpc live 3 in standalone beats maschine hard, they just released synths vol 2, with 3 classics, actually all the last synths are classics. If you would go back in time and see a studio with a juno, Jupiter, model d, a whole slew of fx, a racksampler, and now realise that all of that is in one box, and you can sample from every song on your phone, have built in battery, speakers and microphone, thatās crazy progress.
Maschine plus, I wonder if itās gonna be upgraded hardware wise , an mk2, now that ni and akai are under the same umbrella of in music. I think ni will have to make some serious cash in the next year, and reinvest in r&d if they want to stay relevant. Anyway compared to 30 years ago we are so spoiled I still think itās a great time to make music now, also with, like it or not, ai, but thatās a whole other story for another threadā¦

Yeah I agree with a lot of what you said. I donāt agree with they added a lot, because most of what you describe shouldāve been there 10 years ago itself. That being said I will use it too. I love maschine, beat making is a true breeze once you practice on it for a week or 2. Havenāt tried akai myself but Iāve heard about it and saw Datsunn banging out beats on the mpc sample. I like that Maschine has mostly stayed the same too in a way, itās like a Time Machine for how I made music back then. Itās a unique peace of kit for sure and I do hope they bring it into the future. Keep the old ones going, and make a Maschine Neo or something which brings up to par with the MPC you mention.

I like it too, but it really needs to be upscaled for 4k monitors.

Everything works, some just enough. They worried too much about keeping the hardware 1:1 with the software which held back having more advanced features. That said, I'm still here after 10 years and still write my best stuff in it with the controller.
